『I heed upon the ever gentle night, form upon black spears that would shook this tranquil land』
By the chant of a melodious voice the sky darkened, the city engulfed in the shade of night.
Civilians looked up in the sky in horror
"Shit, of all places it has to be here"
One man's eyes went wide seeing the sudden change of the environment. It didn't take long before he turned around and began to flee.
Descending at the night sky, was a young woman. With long cascading black hair with white streaks, she wore a black gothic lolita dress. Perfectly accentuating her body.
As some civilians fled, some remained in place, looking up in awe.
The young woman raised her hand and two shadowy spears formed beside her, one on the left and one on the right.
The people who fled were long gone, probably cowering somewhere out of the woman's sight. While the one's left finally realized how much in deep trouble they're in
Seeing how much people fled. She almost felt hurt—she had many fans, yet only a few dozen remained
But it doesnt matter.
When you're purifying a house filled with cockroaches, the best thing to do is burn it, right?
The young woman smiled as she swung her hand downward.
The movement caused the two shadowy spears to grow in size in that brief instant, then they came hurling down upon the city with terrifying speed and intensity.
The spear from the left shot directly at a building, piercing it like it was butter.
The impact tore a huge hole; the building collapsed. Screams echoed as it fell.
As if that wasn't enough, the spear that pierced the building struck the ground, causing a small explosion of what looked like ink.
The second spear, shot from the right, struck another building. That one met the same fate.
It tore through the structure, erasing everything on that floor.
And the building itself collapsed under its own weight.
Alongside the cries and screams of the people dumb enough or unlucky enough to happen to be in that building.
Seeing that the two spears were in place, the black-haired young woman's smile grew wider.
『In the darkest of nights, we reign supreme』
With a snap of her fingers, the spears embedded in the ground began to emit a dark glow.
The inky substance that had splattered when they pierced through the soil began to bubble—slowly, ominously.
Little by little, black figures started to emerge.
Big, ugly-looking beasts that didn't belong to any species of Earth.
They stood on all fours and began sniffing the air.
"Youmas!"
Civilians who happened to still be nearby screamed in terror.
Some froze.
Some hid (poorly).
And some... pointed out the obvious.
The moment the youmas heard the screams, they halted their sniffing.
Why would they need to, when humans are so goddamn loud?
"N-noo! Ahhh! Help!"
In less than thirty seconds, a youma caught some poor slowpoke by the legs, dragging them into an alley.
Let's just say... that youma's dining fine tonight.
As people continued to run—
A woman clutching her child in her arms was especially frantic.
Her daughter had just turned six today. She couldn't afford to lose anyone. Her baby was all she had.
As the mother ran, the number of people beside her began to dwindle.
"N-No, ahh!"
Thud "S-shit!"
"W-wait, no! No!!"
"H-helpp!"
Within three steps, three more people were gone.
The mother made sure her child didn't look. Whatever was happening behind them was not something a child should see.
"Mommy, there's a cute doggy!"
The mother's eyes widened. She looked down at her daughter.
"Anna, I told you not to look behind."
She scolded her gently.
"But mommy, the doggy is so close!"
...Close?
The mother turned—and sure enough, the youma was just a hair's breadth away.
How could she not have heard it?
Her confusion was enough for her to trip.
But carelessness isn't rewarded—it's punished.
Now the two were face to face with a youma.
No human could ever dream of fighting one. What awaited them was a fate worse than death.
The mother could only clutch her daughter tightly, pressing the little girl's face against her chest.
The youma growled before them, its inky saliva splattering across her face.
The mother shut her eyes tight, ready to accept her fate.
And then—
A deafening crash tore through the air.
Dust and debris erupted in a blinding cloud.
The mother's eyes flew open.
Her blue eyes shimmered as they reflected a beautiful red dress.
"It's... Stella Comett!"
The mother's lips trembled into a smile.
"Mommy, it's a magical girl!"
Her daughter, who had been watching wide-eyed ever since the heroic crash, pointed at the young woman before them.
She was young. Slim. Her long pink hair danced in the dust-filled air.
Her frame was small—
Yet somehow, her back felt comforting.
Felt... big.
"Ugly fucking creature, begone!"
Stella Comett quickly broke the dramatic moment as she raised her hand, manifesting her wand in a flash.
Air swirled around her as she planted her feet firmly into the ground.
She pointed her wand toward the youma, which was just starting to regain its senses.
Pink energy wrapped around the wand — and for a brief second, it vanished.
The youma stared at Stella Comett, confused — before a bright light erupted from its face, like a flashbang straight out of a video game.
『Garggg...』
–translation: So this is what the light looks like...
The youma screamed as it disintegrated under a comedically large beam of light.
Just from that single beam, the buildings ahead crumbled in waves of destruction. Not only that — the road, pavement, food stands — all gone.
"T-Thank you... Stella Comett..."
The mother kept bowing her head, as if simply being saved by a magical girl was somehow the greatest offense.
Stella Comett turned around, pinching her temples.
"Whatever... why the hell are you even out in the open with your kid, lady?"
She placed a hand on her hip, eyes scanning the mother and daughter with judgment.
"A-Ah... that is..."
『Still uncouth as ever.』
Before the mother could explain herself, a soft — almost comforting — voice barged into the scene.
Stella Comett spun around instantly, eyes going wide. She clutched her wand tight and extended her other hand protectively in front of the civilians.
"It's you! You're the one behind this?!"
She pointed her wand at the young lady descending from above — who, to anyone else, looked like a damn messiah.
She exuded elegance, sophistication, discipline — even the way she descended was perfect. As if choreographed.
And of course... it was.
『Of course, I'm always the one "behind all this," as you say.』
The young lady laughed — and yet, Stella couldn't help but feel mocked.
『All I did was destroy two buildings. But you — with your brash attitude — managed to level, what, five? Eight buildings along the way?』
The lady smiled, looking at the magical girl as if she were a mere hatchling. Nothing more, nothing less — just a chick flapping her wings.
"That's whatever!"
Stella puffed her cheeks, her voice rising in irritation.
The young lady didn't find her act of defiance cute — her smile only grew sharper.
『You don't mind killing more civilians than me? As expected of Stella Comett.』
She clapped her hands once, the sound echoing unnaturally through the ruined street.
"Enough! Why are you doing this?!"
Stella demanded, her grip on the wand so tight it hurt.
『Oh, why indeed...』
White streaks in the lady's hair began to glow faintly. She reached behind her back — and as if pulling from thin air — revealed a black umbrella with an ornate golden handle.
With a graceful flick, she opened it and let it rest on her shoulder.
『Shall we find out... why I became an Evil Magical Girl?』
Her smile widened — bright, beautiful, and terrifying.
