Mira blinked in surprise. Of all the beings she expected to encounter, the sphinx wasn't one of them. Her jaw tightened, and a deep frown formed. Kara wasn't just anyone — she was her brother's beast. And that made her dangerous. Mira wasn't sure if Kara would follow her master's will… or turn on them in an instant.
The tigress that had stood faithfully by Mira's side until now stepped forward with a graceful but hesitant stride, a low rumble in her chest.
Kara turned her head toward the tigress, her lips quirking, amused. "You want to attack me with an alpha-ranked beast?" she said, her voice dripping with disbelief. "Really?"
