Chapter 73 - A Lost Paige Part 6.2 (Paige)

"Jin!" Paige yelled/squeaked/groaned, "If you're planning on saving me. Now would be a good time!" She finished, voice coming back.

She tried to stand and cried out. The giant had all but rolled her down the stairs. If not for her eyes, she'd doubt she had legs.

She needed to breathe, recover.

Jin picked her up, dropping her on his shoulders before he ran. Her, a sack of potatoes, bounced around, the dizzying pain multiplying.

He kicked over those getting up as he ran. He bumped into the one he'd knocked over them in the stair way and all three fell. Paige flipped over landing on the stairs ahead. In seconds Jin was up but so was the man. Face to face, the pole long abandoned.

A fist connected with Jin's face. He turned and another nestled in his kidney, but from someone else. There were now two men beating him. He was on his feet by the grace of a higher power and nothing else.

Both men swung.

Jin fell, pulling their shirts twisting his body. Both attackers, fell forwards.

Crack!

Blood splashed Paige's face as the pair bounced back, foreheads gushing.

Fucking what? Her mind screamed.

Jin got up, cradling her. His eye grew red, swelling fast. He ran for a while with Paige in her arms but slowed to the point where each step took a lifetime.

She had to fight from being scrapped against the wall like sandpaper. He was barely standing when he got to the gateway.

Gunpowder, leather, testosterone, sweat, blood, it was growing, filling her nostrils. It grew electrical, painted pictures, mango, jasmine, lilies, meat, fat, a badly cleaned cloth, snow, water, cold? The Himalayas? Her brain decided to participate but was reeled in.

They were coming.

Paige loosed two massive bursts of flame, up and down the passage.

An alien heat touched her skin, making it tingle. They were home free.

The flame ran out.

The clomping of boots came from all sides. Jin was gasping and Paige still couldn't move, let alone help. He was close but so were they. He took a breath and launched himself at the gateway. A hand caught them dropping them centimetres short.

Paige was grabbed by the leg.

She screamed.

She was being sucked back down the stairway and ultimately that courtyard. She had no idea where it led, only that it involved torture, rape and murder. She wriggled and fought but it meant nothing.

A rush started up her tail bone, buttocks and back to her skull. She lit up, literally. One side green, the other gold.

Her screams echoed and bounced off the wall, her face, agony. She was lifted high and suddenly fell onto Jin's arms. They were on the other side of the gateway. The daylight blinding.

Paige looked back to see her golden eyed counterpart screaming as she was pulled into the black. Jin got up, letting go and heading back.

"Don't!" she shouted waking him up from his state. "There's not enough time, CLOSE THE GATE!" Paige bellowed.
