(Alpha Randall's POV)
At 6:25 p.m., I kissed my wife and headed down to my office to meet with our disappointment of a son. I didn't even know why I'd agreed to this meeting much less why I was making an effort to be on time. Timeliness was important to me. It had never been important to Kael. I knew I'd be lucky if he showed up before 7:00.
Honestly, after everything Kael had put Jane and me through these last few months, I was ready to hand the pack over to Nick and disown Kael altogether. Only three things were holding me back:
1. Nick's fragile mental health after Jenny left him.
2. Margie's relentless desire for Stephanie to be made Luna.
3. Jane's absolute love and loyalty to our son.
I could only hope Kael had asked for this meeting to apologize for his constant disappearing acts, for the shame he's brought to the family and maybe even to ask for advice on how to make things right with the pack and his family.
