Chapter 111 - Chapter 111 - Dungeon Break Situation

Just as Ash and Luna joined Ailanthus at the central most table, the priestess muttering once more how she didn't understand the bound race's ability to just stand before gods, a runner burst in through the door. Seeming startled to see outsiders within the temple sanctum, their eyes swept the room before landing on Ailanthus, who patiently beckoned them forward.

"New reports from the adventurer's guild, Ailan," he held out the papers though when he continued he sounded far less certain, "They said these are from the Starlight Unicorn herd," his eyes moved once more to the two outsiders, one of which wore the robes of the temple of Sidus.

Luna in turn glanced at Ash, feeling keenly as if her dear friend had a hand in that particular development. Unlike on Terra, where Starlight Unicorn dealt with all of the races due to their mixed ancestry, on Fantastoria they were quite insular. The only ones that could negotiate with and convince them of anything besides a high authority within the temple or Lord Sidus himself would be the bound race with a technically higher standing than them though Ash would never act as such.

"Did you meet the herd?" She asked instead of being rather pointed with her question.

Ash nodded as Ailan spread the documents across the table, placing them so they made sense within the context he already had. With the vast amount of information in them, though, he'd have to redraw his entire map. His pale eyes also moved up to Ash as they awaited her answer. She sighed roughly as she suddenly felt certain they wouldn't accept a simple nod as an answer.

"Yes," she said, "We discussed the dungeon situation and the Godsborn situation, of which they were unaware. I told them that the best way to deal with the uptick in dungeons that they needed assistance with was to talk to the adventurer's guild. The guild will figure out who to assign things to for the least amount of danger considering they are also looped into the situation."

Ailanthus nodded his understanding while Luna sighed, not particularly surprised that she couldn't keep her nose out of trouble. Ash was definitely going to keep doing so which meant Luna was tasked with keeping her safe while she was in trouble so her cream-colored fur didn't end up bloodstained.

Ash stepped up to the table and looked over the papers. The situation was bad but she'd already known that from what the Starlight Unicorns had told her.

The runner had lingered, clearly hearing the conversation, and they spoke up, "How'd you get those," seeing a glare from Ailan directed his way to keep him from saying anything even mildly insulting, "Unicorns to talk to you? They don't talk to anyone."

Ash looked instead to Ailan, who offered a slight nod that it was fine to speak, "I am something similar to them, though from Terra, which makes me different," she paraphrased.

Satisfied, the runner nodded before shifting their attention to Ailan once more, "I'm going to get some rest," he said quietly, "Wake me when you need something taken back to the guild."

Ailan nodded as he grabbed a quill from its holder and caught hold of one of several bottles of ink, "Please rest. This will likely take some time and I know you've been hard at work, so get some rest."

Once he'd departed Ash leaned in, looking carefully over the map. There were so many more dungeons near Redwood Stars than she knew about. There was even one that was marked as being in danger of morphing soon near her grove. Without thinking about it, her hand reached for the grove on the map only to be blocked by Ailan.

"My apologies," he said, "But the ink on this map is specially crafted from the fallen leaves of the Star Ash. It gives it a great number of magic properties, not the least of which is letting me use a bit of magic to change its color," he hesitated a moment before continuing, "I…Fear I do not know how your magic will interact with it."

His gaze followed hers and found the markings for the Elder Star Grove, as it was labelled on his map. It was a fair ways from town, though not so far of a run for her, he assumed. Even by its name, he could understand her interest, of course.

"One of the oldest, if not truly the oldest, of the Star Ash trees resides in that grove," he explained before her gentle laughter interrupted him.

After she'd explained that the grove was her own home and had been so since she had come to Fantastoria, he understood her concern. The dungeon nearest the grove wasn't looking good though it wasn't in such poor shape the Starlight Unicorns had decided it needed to be dealt with immediately. A dungeon break right by her home, though, would be very dangerous indeed.

"Considering the severity of its condition," he mused, "That dungeon will likely be quite high on the list to take care of before it morphs or breaks."

Going through a few stacks of papers, he eventually found the information for the dungeon and handed it over to Ash as he got to work on changing the map to reflect all of the new data he'd been given.

Luna drew close beside her and they looked it over together. It was a lower ranked dungeon, one that Ash should be more than able to handle in even a small party. The problem, of course, was that neither Ash nor Luna was a front line fighter and a glance at the map showed a number of problems that would likely call Yarrow and his party to deal with not to mention the party that Ailanthus called his own. If Ash was to tackle that dungeon, they would have to find someone to go with them and Luna truly disliked that idea.

Ash, though, was murmuring to herself as she read everything over. She was assessing all of the data on the monsters, the strength they should expect of them and more. As Luna tuned in, she heard a slight musing that included the name of someone that was supposed to be talking to her all too soon on Terra, Bris.

Considering he was the one that could fix Ashterra's magic, Luna didn't really find it surprising that she already trusted him despite her normally wary nature. Luna was still wary and so had insisted on physically meeting with him before letting him near Ash again whether in Fantastoria or Terra.
