Flain, in the first advantage, preferred the second option, but both of them still had a second advantage.
In the first option, the second advantage was quite good. Flain, in his full state of aggression, could break through the enemy's defense more easily, which was quite good. In the second option, it wasn't as good — if he chose it, in the state of aggression, he could be flawlessly precise.
Which, for Flain, was a minimal advantage since, in the state of aggression, he always fought as close as possible, and his swords were long enough that 99% of his attacks hit.
So, from the very beginning, Flain liked the first option.
