Borrowing the classroom provided by Professor Slughorn, the Slytherin branch of the Jane Yu Support Club was holding its nth meeting under the guise of the Slug Club on a day off.
"Here's the latest news about the Parents' Open Day."
Daphne spread a piece of parchment on the table:
"This was copied by Warrington and Montague in Umbridge's office, detailing the specific plans for the Open Day."
Theodore and Blaise leaned in to read, but their frowns deepened as they read further.
[Schedule for the Day: A morning jog (in formation), a Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson (open class), lunch, and a parent meeting (Note: Senior Investigator Umbridge will accompany throughout)...
Registration: Lottery-based.
Due to limited capacity, not all parents who register will be able to attend this Open Day (Note: Primarily Slytherin pure-blood family representatives will be present).
Student Reception: Order will be maintained by members of the Inquisitorial Squad, with selected fifth-year students attending the open class (Note: Slytherin students will be prioritized). Rehearsals will be conducted in advance... Unsuitable or disobedient students (mainly Gryffindors) are not allowed to leave their dormitories...]
"It's obvious," Theodore said with a voice full of disdain. "She only wants the 'appropriate' parents to see the 'appropriate' students doing the 'appropriate' things in a staged performance."
Hearing this, Blaise, who was feeling rather disdainful, couldn't resist a sarcastic remark:
"Maybe the 'inappropriate' Slytherin students—like Daphne and me—will be knocked out with Draught of Living Death in Umbridge's office on that day."
Draco, who had just returned triumphantly from signing a peace agreement, exclaimed in dismay upon hearing this bad news:
"I can't believe it! All my efforts wasted! After all the trouble I went through to reach an agreement, I was hoping to get the Gryffindors to do something to disrupt the plan, but now they can't even leave their dormitories? And we Slytherins have to bear the brunt?"
"And the recent Defense Against the Dark Arts lessons—I was wondering why that damned pink toad was acting like an NPC in a game, repeating the same lines for three consecutive classes! Turns out she was rehearsing for the open class!"
"That's not all," Blaise said, spreading his hands in resignation. "At least we get to practice the Shield Charm for three classes in a row... Maybe by the Open Day, we'll have practiced it seven or eight times... Even if it's the only spell we can cast for the open class, at least it prevents our wands from rusting."
Daphne, who had been deep in thought, gradually came to an understanding.
She corrected the increasingly off-topic discussion and carefully analyzed the parents and students likely to appear on the Open Day:
"Draco's parents, Theodore's father, the parents of Goyle and Crabbe, Pansy's parents, the parents of Bletchley, Warrington..."
Following the distribution of pure-blood families, she quickly compiled a list:
"As for the other houses, there might be a token appearance by a few parents, like Cedric Diggory's father from Hufflepuff, but the Weasleys definitely won't be coming..."
"Too many members of the Inquisitorial Squad," Blaise said, pinching his nose as he looked at the list. "At least Goyle, Crabbe, and Pansy—I don't think they'll stand with us after tasting the sweetness of power. To be honest, they've never supported Jane from the beginning."
Theodore scanned the names on the list one by one, realizing the core issue:
"This list... Many of them are already pleased with the Ministry of Magic's interference in Hogwarts affairs, especially my father. He's been lobbying families dissatisfied with Dumbledore's closeness to Muggle-born students lately."
"As long as our actions on the Open Day don't cross their bottom line, they'll turn a blind eye to Umbridge's actions—pretending not to see."
But how could they make these blindfolded parents sit up and take notice, to drive Umbridge out of the school?
The little snakes fell into deep thought.
"Bottom line... bottom line... my parents' bottom line..." Draco pressed his temples in frustration.
Amid the silence, Daphne suddenly slammed the table and stood up, producing a loud "bang!"
"I get it! Jane already gave me the answer!" Her eyes widened like a house-elf's, radiating vitality and joy. "Do you remember? Do you remember what Jane did?"
"Unforgettable," Blaise said, startled by her excitement. His mouth moved faster than his brain, blurting out, "That set of Muggle T-shirt and jeans that led the fashion trend—rumor has it that students from other houses secretly modified a set to wear as a symbol of rebellion—"
He couldn't finish his sentence. His mouth hung open wide enough to fit three or four eggs.
Because opposite him, Daphne suddenly yanked open her standard wizard's robe, revealing the clothes underneath—
It was a set of T-shirt and jeans, clearly not her size... evidently Jane's original outfit!
"You... you actually... Are you really Greengrass?" Blaise murmured.
All the snakes present, whether pure-blood or mixed-blood, stared at her dumbfounded, their eyes filled with shock and disbelief.
"Always have been."
Daphne rolled her eyes at Blaise, tossed her outer robe onto the back of a chair, and showcased her Muggle attire to every little snake in the support club, making sure everyone could see it clearly:
"Take a good look, everyone! Look closely at every pattern on it!"
"You all think this is just a Muggle outfit, defiling your bodies, but you don't understand—it represents resistance to Umbridge's oppression and a yearning for freedom! If you still want to live a happy life like before, instead of groveling like slaves and lackeys to that toad, wear it! Show it to your parents and tell them this is the result of Umbridge's education!"
She hurriedly stepped into the center of the circle formed by the little snakes and proclaimed loudly:
"At this point, Jane has already been expelled. Don't you understand? What makes parents sit up and take notice the most?"
"Jane has already shown us through her actions, even at the cost of being expelled—it's treating wizards like Muggles!"
"Think about what she left us, think about the Muggle books she placed in the common room. Don't you get it? She wants us to resist Umbridge in this way!"
The air was thick with astonishment, almost spilling out of the classroom. Every little snake had their mouths agape, seemingly unsure of what to say.
But in their hearts, another kind of flame was igniting—a sense of excitement, a thrilling tension that could topple the ceiling...
"She's got a point. Makes me feel like my rebellious phase has arrived," Blaise said, waving his wand to transform his clothing into a T-shirt and jeans. "Since we can't practice spells properly anymore, the difference between us and Muggles isn't just this outfit."
Everyone exchanged glances, but soon the mixed-blood snakes also silently removed their robes, revealing the T-shirts and jeans underneath.
It seemed to be something they had hidden for a long time, afraid to show in public, but here, they displayed it openly for the first time.
"Zabini senior, this T-shirt and jeans aren't exclusive to other houses! Our Slytherin Senior Jane is the founder!"
