Chapter 59: Dark Dragon
Six hours after the ritual
"Hm... So there won't be any problems with money, Mr. Potter?" Amelia Bones asked.
"No... That's why I only need Aurors near Aeternum. They'll have their headquarters there. I just want them to protect the facility from anyone who might want to cause trouble."
Amelia nodded; that was actually a good idea. And since money wasn't an issue, she didn't have to decline Harry's request.
"Then I don't think there will be any problems, Mr. Potter."
"Madame Bones, this is terrible!" Rufus Scrmigeour entered, sweating and nervous.
"What's going on, Rufus?!" Madam Bones stood up, frowning.
"A fifteen-meter Hebridean Black is approaching London, ma'am! The entire McFusty clan Auror squadron has been destroyed by the dragon!"
"What?!" Harry and Amelia cried out in shock.
"Why haven't you tried to take it away from civilization?!" Amelia exclaimed.
"The teams tried the same thing, ma'am! But they were destroyed by the dragon!... Instead of changing its course to an island outside Great Britain or a forest, the dragon changed its course towards the city."
"Dragons shouldn't be that smart!" Harry said. And yes, he was right. Compared to what Rias told him about his world, in this one, dragons were beasts with much more instinct and less intelligence.
"A move like that isn't so simple. If the dragon changed its course, then there's a chance it's much smarter than others... What a problem!" Harry gritted his teeth.
"Boss! Boss!" A woman, her hair changing along with her expression, rushed in while sweating.
"Tonk, report!"
"The dragon... the dragon is already in London. The news is recording and broadcasting it!"
Everyone paled upon hearing this new information, even Harry. This could jeopardize his plans.
The already tense atmosphere now seemed truly dense and heavy. Everyone looked at each other before Harry stood up.
"I'll hold him back!"
"Mr. Potter, it's too dangerous!"
"I know, but it's best for now! I need teams of tamers sent out, Madam Bones!"
. . .
A few minutes ago, London.
"Mm?" A little girl eating ice cream with her family frowned slightly as she saw something approaching in the sky.
"Mommy, look, there's something in the sky!" she pointed with her tiny finger.
The parents looked on, frowning slightly, but as the shadow drew closer, people began to notice and gulped.
"ROOOOOAAAARRR!!!" The dragon, now hovering over the city, roared at the humans, causing the glass of some buildings to explode and pieces to fall below.
"Protego!" Along with a woman's voice, a shield enveloped the family and a few other people nearby. The people protected by the charm saw a woman in a police uniform holding what looked to them like a glass stick.
"ROOAAR!" Seeing the woman use magic and assimilating it into the men and women holding it back, the dragon roared at her before spitting out a wave of fire.
The police officer paled at this; she had only learned the protego an hour ago, so she wasn't an expert. She knew they would likely die. Luckily, a man jumped in front of her while raising a wooden wand.
"Protego horribilis!" A huge shield formed in front of him, enveloping many people around it. The fire crashed into the barrier and spread to the sides, burning and melting vehicles. The people in their cars immediately ran away when they saw how they would be burned if they didn't.
"Miss, I'll help, but I don't think you'll last long!" the man in ordinary clothes exclaimed to the police officer.
"Retreat to a safer place with the people!"
"Okay!" the policewoman gritted her teeth before nodding.
"Please, get inside the building! Now!" she shouted loudly, causing the startled people to wake up in fear and surprise.
"What's going on?! What is that thing?!" a man shouted as he ran inside.
The woman was about to answer, but she saw several vans slam on their brakes and people with large cameras begin recording.
"Shit... Stupid media!"
"What's going on, officer?! This isn't normal!" the man shouted again, demanding answers.
"It's a dragon!" the woman yelled angrily.
"Dragons don't exist!" the man yelled, and the rest of the people began to scream as well.
"Listen! That's a dragon, your own eyes saw it! What that man and I used is magic! It's supposed to be kept hidden from the world so as not to cause trouble!"
"But if a dragon appeared in London, it means something happened in one of the shelters," the police officer informed them, grateful that Harry Potter had given them books with information about the wizarding world before he left. If not, he'd barely know anything about this.
Outside the building, the wizard was gritting his teeth as he withstood the dragon's fire. Protego Horribillis was the most powerful shield in the Protego series, but it required mastery of charms and great magical power, and it was rapidly depleting.
Suddenly, a silhouette slammed into the dragon's head, causing the enormous beast to crash to the ground and shake its head from the impact.
"Get inside!"
"Harry Potter?!" the man asked in surprise.
"Now!" Harry shouted once more. The man nodded and ran to where the police officer was hiding.
Harry looked the dragon in the eye as it rose in the wind beneath his feet. Taurus Horn was in his left hand and his wand in his right.
The dragon roared angrily and spat fire, but using Protego Horribillis, the flames collided and moved sideways. Then, using his trained speed, Harry appeared above the dragon's head before kicking it with all his Haki, causing the scales on the beast's head to crack and shatter before leaping upward, exposing the dragon's flesh.
When the dragon roared in pain and flapped its wings, Harry used High King's Haki.
"Descend, beast!" Harry shouted, sounding like an Emperor's command demanding respect. The dragon's eyes widened, but it shook its head vigorously, as if recovering from confusion.
"This dragon..." Harry muttered in surprise as the dragon resisted his Haki. But the timing was perfect, so Harry reacted by raising and pointing Taurus Horn at the dragon's eye.
A strange sound was heard before the dragon roared, now missing an eye due to Harry's use of Reducto. Using this newly created opportunity, Harry moved, sheathing his wand and surrounding his fist with Haki, striking the dragon's jaw, destroying its scales and lifting the beast's head.
At that moment, Harry ignored the fact that this was being recorded and broadcast on television; the important thing was to defeat the dragon. The people in their homes were scared, surprised, and some were angry.
Harry leaped once more, landing on the dragon's head, kicking and slamming the dragon onto the asphalt, crushing several cars and destroying a few stores due to the beast's size.
"It's no use... even if I wait for the taming team, this dragon will still cause trouble," Harry muttered as he drew his Bloody Firmament Saber. The blade of the saber was illuminated by the rays of the setting sun and the scarlet color of the blade made it look as if the saber was condensed in blood.
"I'm sorry... but you have to die." Using all his strength as he turned the blade black, he plunged his saber into the area where there were no scales. The dragon roared as blood splattered Harry. The roars echoed throughout the street, diminishing as the minutes passed.
Finally, the dragon's head hit the ground with a loud thud before the beast stopped moving.
Harry got off the animal and sat on the roof of a car before sighing in relief. According to his Haki, it seemed no one had died or been injured, which was good for him.
But at that moment, people began to emerge from shops and buildings as they cautiously approached. The cameramen had been the first to approach, filming the dragon's body and Harry Potter sitting on top of a car.
"Listen!" he shouted for everyone to hear; at that instant, the cameras also pointed at him.
"You're probably scared and want answers, but this isn't the time. It's best to wait until tomorrow, when the relevant people can better explain the current world situation."
"I promise I'll answer your questions too. The Prime Minister and the Queen are also aware of this, so you don't have to be afraid. This attack is an isolated incident and shouldn't have happened, ever."
Just as he finished, the team of tamers descended on broomsticks and paled at the sight of so many people and the dead dragon's body.
"You took too long! We have to get this thing out of here, now!" Harry exclaimed loudly.
