The moment Anastasia rushed into the hospital, her heart pounded like a drum in her chest.
Her palms were sweaty, and her legs were trembling, but she didn't stop for a second. Her only focus was to see Aurora.
The nurse at the front desk recognized her immediately.
"Ms. Stones, please calm down, Aurora is stable now," the nurse said, trying to ease her panic.
Anastasia gripped the edge of the counter tightly. "Where is she? Take me to her, please. I need to see her."
"Right this way, ma'am."
Without waiting for the nurse to finish, Anastasia followed her down the hallway with quick strides.
The corridor smelled faintly of antiseptic and was too quiet for comfort. Her breath was shallow, and her fingers twitched as she walked.
As they got to the doctor's office just before the ward, the nurse gently opened the door.
The doctor looked up from a clipboard. "Ms. Stones, I'm Dr. Reza. I know you're worried, but please take a deep breath."
