"Dragonite! Hurry and get out of there!"
Professor Oak shouted anxiously, eyes fixed on Dragonite, who had been completely swallowed by the raging Sand Tomb.
"Rooaar!!"
His voice was quickly answered. From the swirling vortex of sand came a piercing dragon roar, followed by a sudden explosion of intense bluish-purple energy from the center of the Sand Tomb! In an instant, the storm of sand was blown apart and scattered across the battlefield as countless tiny grains.
"That's... Outrage!?"
Liam narrowed his eyes at the center of the field, murmuring softly as he looked at Dragonite—its head lowered and body radiating fierce Dragon-type energy.
"Rooaar!!"
Another mighty roar followed. Dragonite, now completely engulfed in Dragon energy, suddenly soared into the air! Its entire body looked ablaze with blue-purple flames.
As it raised its head mid-flight, its expression twisted into savagery as it locked eyes on Garchomp down below. Then, its fists clenched tightly, the dragon flames around it erupted again, and it dove at Garchomp like a meteor, trailing a tail of fire.
"Hmph! Garchomp! Use Rock Climb!!"
Seeing that Dragonite had lost all rationality from using Outrage, Liam gave a cold snort and quickly shouted his command.
"ROAR!!"
Garchomp responded with a bellow, stomping the ground hard with its massive feet. A jagged spire of rock erupted from the fractured battlefield, rising just in time to block the charging Dragonite.
A deafening crash followed as Dragonite slammed into the rock spire, instantly shattering it into a spray of debris. From within the flying rubble, Dragonite emerged with a feral expression and blazing dragonfire still cloaking its body—plummeting straight toward Garchomp like a falling star!
"Garchomp!! Use Dig!!"
"Gaarrr!"
With its sand-blade wings still embedded in the ground, Garchomp's scythe-like fins crossed and slashed downward. In the next second, its burly body vanished beneath the battlefield, tunneling underground.
Boom!!
Dragonite crashed down with thunderous force, blasting rocks in every direction once again. Still caught in Outrage, it had no clue how Garchomp disappeared underground—it just kept roaring in fury and punching the ground repeatedly, its fists still ablaze.
"Dragonite, calm down! Stay alert! Your opponent could attack at any moment!!"
Professor Oak shouted anxiously as he dodged flying debris, trying to reach Dragonite with his voice. But the Dragon-type remained oblivious, acting entirely on instinct. Its eyes had begun to glow red—it was on the verge of going berserk!
"Now's the moment! Garchomp, Take Down!!"
"Roar!!"
Right as Liam's voice echoed across the battlefield, Garchomp burst out of the ground beside Dragonite, its whole body surrounded by white light. Without hesitation, it rammed full-force into Dragonite's back. The maddened Dragonite had no time to dodge and took the hit directly—crying out in pain before collapsing.
"Dragonite! Hang in there! Snap out of it! Take to the skies and dodge!"
Professor Oak shouted again, brows furrowed as he watched Dragonite fall. Maybe it was the pain from Garchomp's blow—or perhaps the professor's words had finally gotten through—but Dragonite's crimson eyes gradually regained clarity.
It let out a low growl and flapped its small wings, kicking up a cloud of dust as it shot skyward.
"Nice job, Dragonite! I knew you could do it! Prepare to strike—use Hyper Beam!"
Seeing Dragonite regain control and rise into the air, Professor Oak smiled and gave his next order.
"Rooaar!!"
High above, Dragonite let out a powerful cry, stretching its neck as a blinding golden energy began gathering in its mouth.
"Don't think Dragonite's the only one that can fly! Garchomp, let's head up too! Charge in—use Dragon Claw!"
As the Hyper Beam gathered in the sky, Liam shouted his command with confidence—he believed in Garchomp's ability to fight in the air just as well as on the ground.
"Roar!!"
With a powerful crouch, Garchomp extended its fins and sand-blade wings. Then, with an explosive leap, it shattered the ground beneath it and soared skyward like a jet, trailing a swirl of flowing sand in its wake.
"Dragonite, fire!"
"Rooaar!"
Dragonite lowered its head and unleashed the Hyper Beam! The golden beam shot toward Garchomp like lightning—given Garchomp's high speed, the attack reached its face in the blink of an eye!
"Gaarr!"
But just before the beam made contact, Garchomp let out a growl and subtly tilted its body—vanishing from sight as the Hyper Beam roared past, striking the already-battered battlefield again.
"ROARl!!"
Having dodged the beam, Garchomp reappeared behind Dragonite in a flash! Its scythe fins gleamed with Dragon Claw as they slashed down on Dragonite's back.
Dragonite let out a scream of agony, its whole body going limp as it plummeted from the sky, eyes shut tight and face twisted in pain.
"Dragonite! Get up—fly again!!"
Professor Oak watched in alarm as Dragonite fell from such a height. Even without a direct attack, the impact alone could cause serious damage.
"Roar....."
Hearing his trainer's voice, Dragonite cracked open one eye and tried to spread its wings. But the pain from earlier seared through its body as soon as its wings twitched. Its eye closed again as its entire body trembled, and it fell heavily to the ground, kicking up another huge cloud of dust.
"It's time to end this!! Garchomp—final move! Dragon Rush!!"
Watching the dust rise, Liam knew that Dragonite wouldn't go down from just one fall—not with its stamina and strength. One last decisive blow was needed.
"ROARR!!"
Hovering high above, Garchomp roared as Dragon energy burst from its body, wrapping it in a powerful aura. But this time, instead of a usual energy dragon, something different took shape.
Gathered from the very sands of the earth—a colossal dragon of sand took form!
"Rooaar!!"
The massive sand dragon, forged entirely from flowing grit, roared through the air! Its wings stretched wide like a veil over the sky, and it dived with unstoppable might and the majesty of a wrathful god!
Its roar scattered the dust below—and Dragonite, who had just gotten back on its feet while clutching its arm, looked up at the incoming sand dragon with its mouth slightly open, unable to utter a single word.
BOOOOM!!!
Another earth-shattering explosion! The sand dragon slammed into the battlefield, sending tidal waves of sand sweeping over everything and rushing down the mountainside like a flood.
"ROARRl!!"
"Draa..."
When the sand finally settled, Garchomp stood tall and proud in the center of the now-level battlefield. It raised one of its scythe fins and roared triumphantly to the sky.
Next to it, Dragonite lay seemingly untouched by the final impact. It stared silently at Garchomp, then let out a low growl and collapsed with a peaceful smile, falling heavily to the ground...
"It's over!! The battle is over!! Dragonite is unable to continue! Garchomp wins! The winner of this battle is Liam!"
At that crucial moment, President Charles Goodshow finally leapt out from behind the rocks, dashing into the arena with both arms raised, shouting to Liam and Professor Oak with all his might.
