Cinnabar Island, Blaine's Laboratory.

"Ah, I'm saved. I nearly lost my life out there."

Blaine had first been stabilized by Mewtwo using Life Dew on the beach, then Eddie had transported him back to the laboratory where he received treatment using the medical equipment.

"I'm simply too old now. As an Elite trainer, I'm not even qualified to observe a battle between Legendary Pokémon."

Blaine couldn't help but lament the harsh reality that age had caught up with him. In a situation like the one just now, an Elite-level trainer should possess both the qualifications and ability to witness a battle between Legendary Pokémon.

However, Blaine had been seriously injured, and he was indeed getting on in years, so he couldn't withstand the aftershocks of combat between Legendary creatures. As a result, he'd been unable to witness the conclusion and had been immediately blown away to the beach.

"Umm, Blaine, you should exercise more. Logically speaking, as an Elite-level trainer, your physical body shouldn't be that fragile. It's just that you're primarily a Researcher, which significantly reduces your training time."

"When I spend every day in the laboratory conducting research, my body naturally deteriorates like this."

Eddie shrugged his shoulders upon hearing that response. Blaine was a trainer who leaned heavily toward being a Researcher. With insufficient exercise and poor physical conditioning, who else could he blame?

"That simply won't work. I became a trainer specifically for the purpose of conducting research. How can I use the time I'd spend on research just to exercise instead?"

Blaine understood that Eddie had a valid point, but he was someone passionate about research who had only become a trainer to conduct better studies.

"It's your choice then. By the way, Blaine, have you prepared Mewtwo's Poké Ball?"

"The Poké Ball for Mewtwo needs to be exceptionally durable. Otherwise, as Mewtwo gradually gains control of its own power and grows stronger, an ordinary Poké Ball might explode from the sudden increase in energy."

Eddie didn't particularly care whether Blaine exercised or not—he could do whatever he pleased. However, now Eddie remembered the issue with Mewtwo's Poké Ball.

Although he already possessed a Master Ball due to the system reward, if he recalled correctly, Blaine also had a Master Ball prepared.

Well, more accurately, this Master Ball belonged to Team Rocket and had been prepared specifically for Mewtwo. Then, when Blaine escaped with Mewtwo, he had taken it along as well.

Since there was one readily available, there was no need for Eddie to use his own. He should save it for capturing a Legendary Pokémon next time.

In this world, the Master Ball could capture any Pokémon, including Legendary creatures, but even setting aside ordinary Pokémon, if a Legendary Pokémon was unwilling to submit, it would break free from the ball.

The reason the Master Ball could guarantee the capture of a Legendary Pokémon was because the ball itself was extraordinarily sturdy. The structure of the entire Master Ball was extremely complex, consumed massive resources, and was incredibly difficult to manufacture. There were only a handful of Master Balls in the entire world.

These were matters that Eddie didn't fully understand anyway. He only knew that the reason it could capture Legendary Pokémon was that the Master Ball itself had been perfected.

However, as mentioned before, if a Legendary Pokémon was unwilling to surrender, it would break out of the ball. But if captured by a Master Ball, it couldn't break free from the ball itself. Yet this didn't mean it would obediently listen to commands.

When released, it would either flee immediately or attack its supposed trainer again.

In short, subduing a Legendary Pokémon wasn't easy at all. So far, Eddie had identified two methods for capturing Legendary Pokémon.

The first method was what Eddie had considered when he first entered the Pokémon World: maxing out favorability with the Legendary Pokémon or, due to various circumstances, having the Legendary Pokémon voluntarily choose to follow him.

In such cases, even the most ordinary Poké Ball could capture it successfully.

Mewtwo's current situation fit exactly this scenario. Because it shared a blood-like connection with Eddie, it had chosen to follow him.

However, due to Mewtwo's unique nature, it needed to be immersed in gene adjustment fluid, which could gradually improve the genetic structure within its body.

Although Eddie had already healed it, this substance could also accelerate Mewtwo's mastery over its own power.

Therefore, both Blaine and Eddie had agreed to let Mewtwo soak in the gene adjustment fluid first.

When Mewtwo was immersed in such gene adjustment fluid, it could control its own power much more rapidly, meaning it was essentially growing stronger constantly, and sometimes its power would even surge dramatically.

Under these conditions, ordinary Poké Balls simply weren't capable of containing Mewtwo reliably and could explode at any moment.

Therefore, for Mewtwo specifically, it was better to use a Master Ball. Eddie certainly didn't want his Poké Ball to suddenly explode while he was walking around.

Now, returning to the main topic—the above described the first method for taming Legendary Pokémon, which was the most reasonable but also the most troublesome approach.

As for the second method, it was relatively straightforward and brutal: first capture it with the Master Ball, then defeat it repeatedly and subdue it, just as Eddie had done with his Blastoise previously!

Not convinced after one battle? Fight it twice. Still not submitting? Keep battling until it either submitted or Stockholm syndrome kicked in. Then you would have truly conquered the Legendary Pokémon.

Thinking about this, Eddie wanted to laugh. Although this was a method he'd devised himself, it was indeed quite likely to work in theory.

But were Legendary Pokémon really so easy to defeat? What a joke! If Legendary Pokémon were that easy to overcome, would they still deserve to be called Legendary?

Even though the three Legendary birds had been weakened for some reason, Team Rocket had only dared to provoke them when they were suppressed by the Badges' power. Keep in mind, the three Legendary birds were still considered relatively weaker Legendary Pokémon. From this alone, one could see how powerful Legendary creatures truly were.

"When a human trainer defeats a Legendary Pokémon once through their own strength, it's called a miracle. But wanting to defeat the same Legendary Pokémon again and again? That's pure fantasy."

Legendary Pokémon all possessed extremely strong willpower and high intelligence. When a human trainer defeated one once, the Legendary would naturally learn from that experience, identify its weaknesses, and then turn defeat into victory in the next encounter.

"So, the only people who can defeat Legendary Pokémon repeatedly in this world are Pokémon Champions... No, more accurately, aside from Master Trainers and trainers who themselves possess Legendary Pokémon, almost no one else can accomplish this feat."

The former group was extremely small in number. Eddie only knew of two individuals at the Master Trainer level anyway. As for the latter category, it seemed only Eddie fit that description currently, making the number even smaller.

In summary, the Master Ball wasn't a Poké Ball that could tame Legendary Pokémon with 100% certainty, but it was an essential prerequisite for implementing Eddie's second strategy.

Eddie now had Mewtwo. Although Mewtwo hadn't yet fully mastered its own power, once it had complete control, Eddie could go searching for other Legendary Pokémon he wished to capture.

Therefore, if Blaine had prepared a Master Ball for Mewtwo, Eddie would simply request it now. The one the system had given him would be saved for when he went to capture other Legendary Pokémon later.
