Chapter 18 - 18. Long-Term Hidden Mission

"Ding! You have discovered Team Rocket's actions and figured out their purpose. You have triggered a long-term hidden mission!"

"Ding! Long-term hidden mission 'Smash Team Rocket's Mewtwo Plan'!"

"Ding! Phase 1 mission: Help Mew escape the search team's pursuit (0/20)."

·····

"···Okay, I was just hesitating, thinking that the reward and risk were not proportional. Now I'm directly asked to do a long-term hidden mission. Isn't it obvious that I need to help?"

Eddie didn't expect that the game would give him a hidden mission at this time, and it was a long-term one.

He had never seen this mission in his previous life, but it was understandable. There were a lot of prerequisites for triggering this mission.

First, you have to understand Team Rocket, then you have to understand the Pokémon in the Kanto region, and finally, you have to understand the purpose of Team Rocket's search for Mew.

"Who can trigger these prerequisites? Who else can know these things besides me?"

Eddie's mouth kept twitching. He had a feeling that this mission was arranged temporarily and specially prepared for him.

Because of these prerequisites, the only person who knows so much is Eddie himself. Even if someone else is reborn, they will not know these things.

Why? Because no one in this world knows the situation of Pokémon!

If someone else is reborn, even if they know that Team Rocket is an evil organization, how can they know what Team Rocket is going to do? How can they know which Pokémon are in the Kanto region? How can they know that Mewtwo was created by Team Rocket?

Even if the previous life game comes to reality, players will not know these things because who would announce these secret events?

There are only a few original residents of the game who know about it. Will they run to the player and tell them what Pokémon are in this region, which ones will stay in one place, and which ones will run around?

After that, they will tell you that Team Rocket is doing cloning experiments, and Mewtwo is still created.

Will an insider do this? Obviously not, so if it is another player, they will not be able to accept this hidden mission after rebirth.

But Eddie knows these things for only one reason: he is a time traveler and understands the Pokémon world.

"The reason why I didn't trigger this hidden mission in my previous life was because I was still leveling up outside Viridian Forest.

Thinking back, I had just trained Charmander to level 8 at that time.

Even if I received this mission, I would not have been able to do it because of my lack of strength."

Eddie recalled his previous life.

It was really hard to survive at that time, and he had to go back to the city to supply and treat Pokémon.

Basically, there was no one who would come to the depths of Viridian Forest, so it was impossible to receive this hidden mission. "Since there is a mission, the benefits and risks are proportional, so I have to start doing it."

Eddie's eyes flashed with determination.

Since he decided to take action, he would never let this group of people go.

Moreover, he knew that Mew was here, but it did not mean that he knew its specific location.

So, there is actually only one way to complete this mission: just defeat them. But since Eddie did not want Team Rocket to know too early, he could only change defeat to concealment. "Taking down players and NPCs will normally put you on the blacklist, but defeating members of evil organizations won't, and no one will find out who did it. It's very real."

Eddie took Charmander and Froakie and followed the two Team Rocket members who had just walked past.

He wanted to deal with these two unlucky grunts first. "If it weren't for these two talking too much, maybe I would have walked to Pewter City by now."

"I really have to thank them."

·····

"Hey, why did I suddenly shiver? Isn't it noon now?"

"Don't tell me, I just felt a little cold; it's not the weather."

The two Team Rocket members suddenly felt a chill and exchanged uneasy glances.

"Is that the kind of chill you instinctively feel is life-threatening?"

"Hey! It's okay if you don't say it, but if you say it, I'm sure it's that feeling."

"Yes, you're right; it's indeed that feeling!"

"Well? Didn't you say that?"

"I didn't say it. Wasn't it you who said it...?"

The two members of Team Rocket stopped abruptly, staring at each other and seeing the panic mirrored in their eyes.

Even if they were slow to realize, they now knew: there was a third person present just now, one who had revealed exactly what they were about to face.

Their instincts kicked in, and both reached for their waists to grab their Poké Balls.

"Heh. Froakie, Ice Beam."

A cold voice echoed as a beam of icy light shot forth. The Team Rocket members froze—literally.

It wasn't that they didn't want to release their Pokémon. It was because they couldn't.

Their hands and Poké Balls were encased in ice!

"Who are you? Do you know the price of going against Team Rocket?"

One of the Team Rocket members, realizing he couldn't summon his Pokémon, shouted in defiance, attempting to use the organization's reputation as a shield.

Eddie simply sneered in response.

"I don't know if I'll pay the price for this, but I do know one thing—you're finished."

"Charmeleon, deal with them."
