For a moment, Cassian — three years older than his younger brother — still hadn't noticed that the young man had spotted him. Now twenty years old, he was still busy helping the maid who'd bumped into him moments earlier. The scattered blankets that had gone flying everywhere were now stacked back into the basket she carried, thanks in part to his help as well.
"Forgive me, Young Master. This was entirely my fault — however demanding my work is, I should have noticed you were standing there," the maid said, bowing her head deeply. She bit her lip slightly and turned her face away. It was true the rumors about the eldest young master being rather down-to-earth were well known — but however she looked at it, her behavior just now had been inexcusable. Because of the stack of blankets in her arms, she genuinely hadn't seen him at all. Besides, the maid couldn't quite understand what Cassian was even doing here — especially now, catching Lucian eyeing the two of them sharply.
