Lucian watched Reynald's expression seriously.
Reynald did not answer right away. His golden eyes narrowed slightly as he stared at Lucian, as if trying to discern the intent behind the question. His fingers, which had been resting on the back of his chair, moved slowly, tapping against it in a steady, measured rhythm.
Then he let out a small sigh, a faint smile touching the corner of his lips. "I don't know what happened until you and Sir Cedric asked me about this, but…"
He leaned back in his chair, his body appearing relaxed, his gaze a little calmer now.
"As I said before, I've more or less given up on that throne." Reynald shrugged as if his words were no great matter, though the way he spoke didn't fully reflect that.
He glanced at the ceiling for a moment, then let out a slow breath.
