Chapter 66 - Cowardly Bastard!

Finn could have sworn he heard Sage at one point call out to him, even noticed a few vamps running around, but he was far too busy working his way through the hybrids.

"KLAUS! GET BACK HERE YOU FUCKING COWARDLY BASTARD!" shouted Finn angrily as he gave chase, bulldozing his way through buildings to get to him.

On the run a few blocks away now, Klaus snorted at the shout, not taking the bait, and then turned to a group of hybrids. "You lot stay here and deal with him, the rest of you with me," he ordered, no longer interested in fighting.

When he was gone, shots went off as a woman hopped out of a moving vehicle upon spotting them through an alley, walking and firing her gun, pelting them with bullets—a hunter scout tasked with figuring out what was going on here.

A couple went down to the wooden, vervain-laced bullets, then they turned towards her.

"Oh shit!" she cursed when she realized how many there were.

Turning, she tried to run back out of the alley to her car, but was caught and thrown against a wall before being lifted up by the neck.

Raising her weapon, it was taken from her hand before she could fire.

"Let's see how you like being shot," said the hybrid, pointing it back at her.

Hearing the commotion, Finn arrives in the nick of time, stabbing the gun wielder in the temple while kicking the others away. Stealing the gun, he aims and fires at the rest.

Coughing after being freed, and seeing him take her gun, she suggest, "Shoot them in the heart, or knee caps if the head is too…. difficult..." but is cut off when he domes one, and then another, and before she new it four more were down, noticing his arm moving faster then any human had a right to.

Her fears are confirmed when he runs out of ammo and tosses it, speeding towards the next hybrid, ripping him apart with his bare hands.

Snatching her gun off the ground, she quickly reloads it in time to aim at him as he finishes the last one.

She had to ask, "Why did you save me?"

Ignoring her, he left, her arm whipping back and forth, wondering where he would appear next.

Though there was no chance of catching Klaus after this little detour, he still needed to secure Elijah's body, something his bastard of a brother likely forgot about in his panicked retreat.

And all too right he was as Klaus made it back home and began packing, thinking about running and playing it safe, the long game, what he excelled at, no matter how much he despised it, only to stop when he walked past Elijah's room.

"Elijah," he gasped, having forgotten all about him, and as he was about to go run out again, he hesitated, recalling the prophecy.

Scowling, he put it to the back of his mind. Elijah was still the one sibling who had yet to completely betray him, the last sibling he still somewhat cared for.

Plus, there were still those fucking stakes out there. Something he couldn't allow.

He stopped packing and went downstairs to take inventory of how many hybrids he had left.

Back at the rubble, Finn orders the few vampires around not still fighting to help clear it when an unhappy Sage arrived.

"You!" Sage called out, walking over in a huff.

Finn's eyebrow quirked up towards her. "Sage," he greeted her before she slapped him.

"What was that for?" he asked calmly, teeth clenched.

"You went to fight without me, again!" she practically yelled.

"I seem to recall you doing something similar; in fact, I found you with your heart torn out," came his sharp retort.

"At least I took an army! And I had the ring! Elijah be damned! What did you have?!" asked Sage angrily.

Finn couldn't help but look slightly abashed at that, unable to deny anything, "I'm sorry, it won't happen again."

Hearing his apology took all the wind out of her sail. "Good," was all she could say as she turned her attention to the others clearing debris, "What's all this then?"

The answer soon became clear as the last of it was removed.

"Elijah! You got him!" Sage exclaimed joyfully.

Finn grinned, "Yep. One bastard left now, I only need to decide whether I want to find Tristan first and make him suffer."

"Oh, you don't have to worry about that," Sage smirked, "We caught him on the outskirts of the battle with his witches."

Finn let out a happy chuckle, "That's a pleasant surprise, good job babe," he said, giving her a hug and a peck.

She grinned, "See what happens when you have help."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, come on, help me collect those stakes. Klaus was using them as a weapon against me. I want Davina to check them out before we do anything with them," said Finn, bending over and reaching for one.

.

After giving Davina the stakes and visiting their secret underground bunker to drop off Elijah's body, he spent some time torturing Tristan and Marcel with Sage, before finally going home and getting some much-needed rest, collapsing on their bed, sleeping an entire day away.

When he eventually awoke, he remembered to check on Kol and was happy to find nothing but ash.

Klaus, meanwhile, was replenishing his forces with nearby vampires, having already caught and turned all the werewolves they could find previously.

Even the humans were now being put to work, having already compelled the entire city.

This time, he would win.

Walking down into the packed courtyard, he grinned at his awaiting army.

"Are you ready?!" asked Klaus enthusiastically, arriving in the center of them.

They gave their hoots and hollers as dictated by his desire, pleasing him.

And as he was about to give the order, he heard screams outside.

"What is that?" asked Klaus angrily, not believing anyone, even Finn, would be stupid enough to attack an army this large with him here.

Those who went to check never returned, as their screams were added to the rest before silence. Then the gated doors of his home burst open, blasting everyone back as a lone shadowy figure stepped through the dust cloud, wearing a tiara with a glowing red-orange gem on top.

"Who dares?!" shouted Klaus, squinting his eyes to peer through the dissipating dust, their form still obscured.

"KLAUS! You and you're family's reckoning is here!" yelled Bonnie, stepping into view, all eyes darting to her, then up towards the gem, and then all they knew was pain as the world was filled with their screams.
