Chapter 65 - Klaus

Pulling out a gold and silver dagger, Finn met Elijah's charge with a ferocity no less than his own.

"Eh? Something's different about you… I like it," said Finn as they clashed, striking at each other in a flurry of movements.

"I'll Rip Your Fucking Head Off!" shouted Elijah, repeatedly stabbing his stakes at him.

"That's the spirit!" said Finn with a wicked grin, cutting him up with every block.

"Begin!" Klaus shouted from above.

Then, from every building, alley, and street corner, Hybrids appeared, surrounding the place for which there was no escape.

Seems like Klaus wasn't idle while he was dealing with the rest, Finn thought, seeing the numerous new hybrids.

A handful of them entered the ring, wielding the same uncuttable magical stakes that Elijah now held.

Unsure of how effective they might be in putting him down, given his ability to stave off death, Finn wasn't taking any chances.

Spotting Klaus smirking from above, he managed to kick Elijah away and pull out a ring. "If anything happens to me, I can't guarantee your boy lives," Finn said, tossing him Marcel's daylight ring.

The hybrids paused, wondering if this changed anything.

Glancing at the ring, Klaus sneered, clenching it in his fist, "My boy? What makes you think I care about some random vamp?"

"There's no use in denying it. We both know what those symbols mean… And what the hell is wrong with Elijah?" said Finn, dodging Elijah's mad dash return.

Klaus schooled his features, "He means nothing... And what are you lot waiting for? Get him!"

Receiving their orders, the weaponized hybrids launched an attack.

Not liking the odds, Finn made a break for it, shooting for the large windowed building with Elijah hot on his tail.

Slashing the throat of one hybrid while gutting another, shoving him back into Elijah's path, he pushed his way by, tackling a group of them at the outer edge of the ring, through the window behind as they failed to hold him off.

Grunting as one sank his teeth into him, Finn stabs him through the eye as he rolls off to his feet, catching Elijah's soaring form and blocking the stake aimed for his chest as the other slipped into his side as they crashed through a shelf and wall, falling on the other side.

Then Elijah did something completely out of character and bit him between the neck and shoulder like a mad animal, shaking his head.

Shock soon turned to anger as Finn brought the dagger down from behind, stabbing Elijah in the back, severing his spine.

Elijah, hissing in pain, gave Finn the chance to return the favor and bit into his neck, taking a quick, greedy drink before rolling him over, tearing it out with his teeth, and stabbing him in the heart with the silver dagger, taking him out of the fight.

Shooting to his feet, he slashed with the golden dagger at the approaching hybrids crawling through the hole, keeping them back as he quickly removed the stake in his side.

With a dagger in his right hand and a stake in his left, Finn took in his surroundings, pleased with the small enclosed brick space that would prevent them from overwhelming him with numbers without bringing the whole place crashing down. Thankfully, they didn't seem to have that out-of-the-box thinking as they closed in on him, and better yet still, he didn't feel even slightly off from the hybrid bite for some reason.

.

Hopping over the railing, a furious Klaus joined the chase; he wasn't about to let him get away. "Stop him, you fools!"

"You two pick up the stakes and follow me, the rest of you surround the building, and this time don't let him escape!" Klaus growled, taking out a stake of his own.

Entering the building, he finds a blood-covered Finn past a collapsed wall in another room, surrounded by bodies.

"Done hiding behind you're army?" Finn mocked.

"You know what they say, if you want something done right...You are a persistent cockroach, I'll give you that, but it's time to end this. Soon you'll be lying on the bottom of the ocean, forgotten by time," Klaus monologues, his eyes flickering nervously towards the stake, cursing himself for allowing anyone other than him to wield them, barely acknowledging the gold dagger that was a perfect replica of the silver dagger that was now sitting in Elijah's chest.

Then they both vanished before reappearing with a loud wood-on-wood clash as stakes banged against one another.

Locked in combat, Finn thrust the golden dagger towards Klaus's heart, which he reflectively caught.

"What is this?" asked Klaus suspiciously, finally appreciating the weapon's danger.

"Overkill it seems with all these stakes around," said Finn, breaking off with a kick when the two hybrids came at him from the sides.

Catching himself, Klaus scowled as he recalled a distasteful past moment with his younger brother. "Kol! You have him, don't you? He made that," he accused. The prophecy once more plays on his psyche.

Finn didn't bother to reply as he dodged the two hybrids. Knocking one stake off course, he ducked and spun under a swing from behind, implanting the stake in his chest. Pivoting back, he caught the hand of the other and sliced it off, along with his neck, finishing him off momentarily as Klaus rejoined the fight.

"Didn't he?!" Klaus roared, slamming into him at high speed, sending them both rolling until they crashed into the wall, breaking it.

Finn smirked, shooting up to his feet, "What if he did?"

"Nothing but traitorous filth! All of you!" shouted Klaus madly, speeding over in a rage.

Almost getting stabbed twice, Finn dodged another, creating some distance from him as Klaus's hand punched through the wall behind, having nearly forgotten how fast he could be.

The building trembled as their battle continued, smashing through shelves, furniture, and walls like paper.

Breaking through the walls into the adjacent building, their fight paused as the previous building partially collapsed, burying Elijah beneath the rubble.

Clothes torn, covered in dirt and blood, they glared at each other.

"You can't beat me," said Klaus definitively.

Finn smirked, gripping his golden dagger, "Doesn't feel that way."

Klaus scowled and attacked. His fist a blur, his stake ever pointed at his brother's chest.

Having grown accustomed to the enhanced hybrid speed, Finn dodged, blocked, and countered. His golden dagger ever searching for the bastard's heart.

Still, hits were taken as the fight dragged on, though he gave as good as he got, stabbing Klaus multiple times for every hit he took.

"How long do you think you'll last at this rate? Give up Finn, there's no escape with my hybrid army here," Klaus pointed out after finding themselves locked together once more, having traded blows yet again with him, grinding the stake into Finn's stomach while he carved down his left shoulder with that accursed dagger.

"I'll take my chances," said Finn, through gritted teeth.

Then, Klaus summoned all his strength with a roar, pushing Finn back towards the kitchen.

Getting knocked into the counters, Finn spotted the cooking knives to his left and went for it. Letting the stake arm go, he grabbed the nearest one and swung it point-first towards Klaus's temple.

Also letting go, Klaus caught the arm when Finn head butted him, breaking his nose.

Seeing him slightly dazed but otherwise unaffected, Finn surprised him with another head butt and then another until he was forced to back off.

But as Finn was about to follow, Klaus kicked the stake further into his stomach, knocking him back as he groaned in pain, and with another roar, Klaus charged him again, where they wrestled for control, destroying the kitchen.

Breaking free, Finn got his chance to use his dagger on an unarmed Klaus. Ignoring the stake still stuck in his guts, he began his dance of death, slicing and dicing the bastard like never before, even taking a finger or two, forcing the bastard to retreat furiously, snarling curses and threats back at him.

Klaus's eyes then gleamed upon spotting a roller on the ground. Capitalizing on it, he grabbed a metal tray to shield him from the dagger and push Finn towards it, tripping him up and breaking his rhythm, allowing Klaus to get in his all to deadly bite as he swatted the dagger away and lunged for his arm, sinking his teeth in before quickly retreating with stake in hand having pulled it free, not forgetting what Finn did the last time he did so.

He then stepped back with a smirk, ready to fight Finn off and let the venom do its work for him.

When Finn made no apparent move for his blood other than to reposition himself, Klaus raised his eyebrow questioningly, "Given up?"

Finn grinned through a wince, due to the gaping hole where the stake once was, "Not on your life."

Klaus frowned, wondering what was going on, but he wouldn't get the chance to think about it as Finn came at him, feeling the pressure.

Putting the annoying thoughts of how or why to the back of his mind, Klaus fought equally desperately, the threat all too real.

Slicing towards the head, Finn took an ear as he dodged, and cursed yet again in maddening denial. He couldn't fathom how Finn could be so much better than him at his, when he was stronger and faster than him.

Finn smirked, causing yet more curses to be thrown his way as they continued through a wall and into the hall.

As the fight dragged on, they both lost a lot of blood, but Finn, more so, was starting to feel it, having nearly fought nonstop for what seemed like multiple days now, including some of his hybrids just before this.

Slowing slightly, Klaus punishes him.

Taking a hit, Finn faltered as the next one landed, sending him through a door. Smelling blood in the water, Klaus sped forward and thrust, ready to end it. Stake extended, he went for the kill.

A last-minute spin inside Klaus's guard, Finn caught the arm, wrapping it up with both his and stabbing it as he pulled Klaus down with him as he fell, breaking the arm as he landed on top.

Grunting loudly as it was stabbed and snapped, Klaus was forced to drop the stake as he reached around with his other arm, firmly taking hold of Finn as he went for a bite.

Pulling the dagger free, Finn plunged it back at him, stabbing him through the nose, preventing the bite as he scrambled away from the howling hybrid bastard, who was twitching uncontrollably from the unusual pain he was experiencing, his hands clawing at his face.

Still on the floor, Finn threw the stake away before jabbing the dagger back at his heart, hoping to finish things, but Klaus wasn't so far gone as not to see it, rolling away to safety.

Following him, Finn stabbed again, missing the heart as Klaus batted away with his good arm, only for another strike to come, quicker than the last. And when all hope seemed lost for the Original bastard, his hybrid army intervened with standing orders to always protect him.

A group of them grabbing and pushing Finn away before the strike could land.

Pulling their leader to safety, Klaus pushed them off and shouted at them, "KILL HIM! KILL HIM NOW! DON'T LET HIM ESCAPE!"

Two hybrids had Finn by the arms, pushing him against the far wall as more entered between them, putting Klaus farther and farther away.

Grabbing one of the hybrids before he could leave to carry out his orders, Klaus growled, "Where is everyone?" noticing the absence of many more.

"Sir, we're being attacked by a group of vampires outside," reported a hybrid.

Klaus roared angrily, shoving him away as he watched Finn go with the flow and push back through the wall, catching his hybrids by surprise as they fell through with him.

Rolling back over onto his knees, he faced the two hybrids in a similar position, their hybrid faces on full display, their inner wolf feeling challenged.

They lunged with a roar.

Dagger out, he thrust, puncturing the one on his right, through the forehead.

Left hand out, he catches the other by the head, slamming him face-first into the floor.

Tearing the dagger out of the one he plunged into the back of the other, through the spine, taking the fight out of him as his fangs pierce the neck, seeking to replenish his lost blood.

Hearing the others closing in, he stands, ready for more, dagger poised to strike.

Seeing Finn slaughtering his men in earnest in an attempt to get back to him while the rest of his army was stuck fighting another, Klaus called it, not wishing to deal with this any longer.

"Retreat… Everyone not in fucking battle, retreat!" said Klaus, feeling the weight of defeat. His eyes locked with Finn's as he slowly worked through his men, piece by piece, sending a fear down his spine he hadn't felt since Father.
