Beta Zander Perez - POV
I raced through the dense forest, my heart pounding in my chest. I had searched every inch, yet she remained elusive. Had she truly left the pack so soon? Just as despair began to creep in, a mind link from one of my warriors jolted me from my thoughts.
"Beta Perez, we have found Heather," he reported, urgency lacing his voice.
"Where are you?" I asked, my heart leaping with a mix of hope and dread.
"Eastern border," he replied.
"Keep her there; I will be there," I commanded, shutting the mind link with a firm resolve. I took off running again, my pace quickening. I had already scoured the eastern border just hours earlier, so how had he found her now?
"Maybe she came back?" Ares suggested, his voice a calm presence in my mind. It was the only explanation that made sense, but my instincts were on high alert. I pushed myself faster, adrenaline surging through my veins.
