Heather Johnson - POV
When I came back home, the silence was almost suffocating. It felt as if the walls were closing in on me, amplifying the chaos in my mind. I made my way upstairs, my heart racing with every step, and as I passed by his room, I realized he was still awake, talking to someone. Curiosity mingled with dread, and I took a hesitant step closer, pressing my ear against the door.
"Aurora, are you all right? I couldn't reach you through the mind link." Zander's voice was laced with genuine worry, and a pang shot through my heart. The depth of his concern for her was overwhelming, igniting a fierce mix of jealousy and sadness within me. How could he care so much for her while I was left here, feeling like a ghost in my own life? I stepped back, my heartbeat echoing in my ears, and retreated to my room, gently closing the door behind me.
