Olivia's lips curled into a small smile. For the first time, she felt some of her anger fading. At least someone in the room had said something with real logic.
Eleanor's nails dug into her palms. She looked at Mateo pleadingly, her eyes begging him to drop it. Mateo's jaw clenched. He wanted to keep fighting, but even he could see that things were turning against him. He finally decided to stop.
He turned, dragging Eleanor with him. But just as he brushed past Louis, something unexpected happened. Louis suddenly fell to the ground with a loud thud.
Everyone gasped.
Louis looked up at Mateo with wide, almost innocent eyes. "I never expected you would go so far as to push me down," he said loudly. His voice carried across the room.
Mateo froze, completely stunned. "I… I did not push you!" he stammered.
But before he could say anything more, Louis stood up in one smooth motion and threw a punch. His fist landed squarely on Mateo's cheek. Mateo stumbled back, shocked.
