At first her laughter was loud, but gradually it turned into choked sobs. Her heart was twisting in pain.
She couldn't understand how someone could change so much.
Adriana was stunned hearing Adeline's story. She believed Adeline would lie to her and tell her a fake story.
She even wanted to call Adeline a liar. However, the pain and despair in Adeline's eyes made her realize how blind she was.
She trusted everything Henry had said to her.
Adriana didn't know what to say.
She just sat there, quietly watching Adeline cry. The hospital room felt too quiet.
The only sound was Adeline's soft sobbing and the little hum of the air conditioner.
Adeline wiped her tears with the back of her hand and gave a small, embarrassed smile.
"Sorry," she whispered. "I didn't mean to cry like that."
