Chapter 2 - The Wrong Direction

I was supposed to head right, toward my biology classes. After all, I was just your average biology student, nothing more. But instead, I was being pulled left—toward the mathematics department—by Holly, the girl I had just met.

"Umm… Holly?" I asked her politely.

"Yes?" she replied, looking at me with her beautiful eyes.

I was about to tell her that I was from the biology department, but after looking at her, I froze and said, "Nothing."

She smiled and continued walking toward the class, still holding my hand.

We reached the entrance of the mathematics department. Inside the main gate of the building, there was a staircase enclosed with bulletproof glass. Dios Saint College prioritized the safety of students over studies.

A security guard was sitting on a chair inside the glass chamber. He always checked the department IDs of students to make sure students from other departments didn't slip in. Students were standing in line, passing through the staircase after showing their IDs to the guard.

In the line, I recognized two girls I had met before, standing along with Holly.

"Are those two your friends?" I asked Holly, pointing toward them.

"Yes. We've been friends since childhood," she answered with a slight smile.

It was Holly's turn now. She showed her ID to the guard and went up the stairs.

There was a window along the staircase through which sunlight streamed in. As Holly passed through it, the golden rays made her look like a goddess. I was so stunned by her beauty that I didn't realize it was my turn.

"Show your ID, boy," the guard said lazily.

"Just a minute," I replied, fumbling through my pocket. I pulled it out and suddenly realized it was my Biology Department ID.

"Be quick, other students are waiting," the guard said, this time with a trace of annoyance.

Suddenly, I noticed Holly waving at me in an odd manner, as if trying to get my attention. When I looked at her, she pointed toward the ground. Through her hand signs, she wanted me to look down.

I glanced down and saw Holly's ID card lying on the floor. I picked it up, covered her photo and name with my hand, and showed it to the guard. He saw the Mathematics Department written on top of the ID card and let me in.

I hurried over to Holly and handed her the ID card.

"Thank you," I said, panting.

"No problem. He's lazy anyway," she said, giggling. "Let's go now."

She held my hand tightly and pulled me toward her class.
