Chapter 6 - The End of the Hunt

Seeing that Hao Yue bolted away somewhere, it was clear that he had found something important, thus they have all followed after him. There was nothing better than to depend on the "Spirit Beast" like Hao Yue to reconnaissance the terrain and search for their target.

Even though the Pit Demon Spider moved primarily under the ground, and thus it was pretty hard to track the dammed Spirit Beast, it wasn't actually that hard for Hao Yue, who sensed something under the ground and immediately followed the track.

All three of them followed quickly after the Hao Yue because it was clear that he had caught up on something, and their decision paid off because they reached a small plateau in the Great Star Dou Forest.

Suddenly, out of the ground, a Pit Demon Spider emerged in all of its spidery glory. The Pit Demon Spider looked a bit smaller than the Man Faced Demon Spider that Hun Tiandi killed for his 1st Spirit Ring, but obviously it was no less dangerous than the Man Faced Demon Spider.

Golden Crocodile Douluo and Chrysanthemum Douluo looked at the Pit Demon Spider that was apparently older than 5,000 Years, which was a bit more than Hun Tiandi initially predicted, but he wasn't disrupted by the fact.

On the contrary, he grinned because this was even better.

He wanted only the best of the best for the Bloodviolet Seven Star Fiend Sword Martial Soul, because it would take a lot of effort to age up the other Spirit Rings that he had. Hun Tiandi already pondered over the Spirit Ring's Age Ascension some time ago because the Spirit Rings were the basis of the strength of the Spirit Master.

The age of the Spirit Ring was directly tied to the strength and power of the Spirit Skill and, thus, the power of the Spirit Master. The recommended optimal Spirit Ring Age for the 2nd Spirit Ring was less than 764-year-old Spirit Beast.

In fact...

If everyone followed these standards, it was no wonder to Hun Tiandi that everyone in the Douluo Continent was much weaker than the Dou Qi Continent. Their initial Spirit Rings were weak, and thus, their skills were not particularly strong and powerful.

"It's a bit older... around 5,500 Years Old. Do you think you can handle it? This is even higher than the Optimal Spirit Ring Age for the 4th Spirit Ring and is already on the degree of the Optimal Spirit Ring Age for the 5th Spirit Ring."

The Golden Crocodile Douluo Jin Eyu asked Hun Tiandi as the crimson-haired boy looked at the Pit Demon Spider with glee as he summoned his Bloodviolet Seven Star Fiend Sword Martial Soul and was ready for the combat.

"I think that it won't be a problem... my physique got strengthened enough to handle it, and my Spiritual Realm is also enough to support the power of the Spirit Ring and its age."

Hun Tiandi was confident in himself because he needed to obtain the Spirit Rings as old as possible as his starters because it would still take a very long time until he figured out a way to strengthen the Spirit Rings' Age and elevate them to greater heights.

Due to that, he saw it as prudent to obtain as many old Spirit Rings as possible, and that he was going to do right now with the Pit Demon Spider as he did with the Man Faced Demon Spider.

Hun Tiandi would settle for no mediocrity or anything that was average, as the former Dou Di and Soul Emperor of the Hun Clan. Obviously, he swore to himself that he would rise to the top even in this world and he would do anything to achieve his goal.

He looked at the enormous Pit Demon Spider as the Spirit Beast was still unaware that they were there. Both of the Titled Douluos were concealing their aura, so one Spirit Beast that was not even 10,000 Years Old would not be able to detect anything.

This gave Hun Tiandi an advantage in approaching the Pit Demon Spider rather closely and even preparing the ambush for the Pit Demon Spider. When he was close enough, he tightened the grip on the Bloodviolet Seven Star Fiend Sword and even called the Energy of the Fell, as creepy-looking greenish energy appeared around the Bloodviolet Seven Star Fiend Sword.

He was rather eager to test the Fel in real combat, seeing that it was able to affect even the Titled Douluo, though the Titled Douluo wasn't doing anything to prevent the spreading of the Fel within his body.

It was an immensely versatile ability and also pretty powerful.

Soon enough, the Pit Demon Spider noticed Hun Tiandi, who was standing behind the bushes the Pit Demon Spider gave him a screeching sound as it charged toward Hun Taindi, who looked at the enraged Pit Demon Spider, that was already planning to eat him as a snack.

Fortunately enough, in Hun Tiandi's eyes, the Pit Demon Spider wasn't particularly powerful or skillful in the aspect of combat as he almost effortlessly dodged the Pit Demon Spider that attempted to hit him with one of its bladed legs.

The Pit Demon Spider, like most of the less intelligent Spirit Beast, was enraged at the fact that the human managed to dodge his attack as it once again swung its blade leg at the Hun Tiandi, but the future Holy Son of the Spirit Hall once again dodged the swing of the blade leg and stabbed with the Bloodviolet Seven Star Fiend Sword into the body of the Pit Demon Spider.

The effect of the Fel was almost immediate, as the Enrgies of the Fel started spreading through the body of the Pit Demon Spider, as the Fel was spreading through the veins of the Pit Demon Spider like a wildfire and one could see the green lines across the entire body of the Pit Demon Spider just after several minutes.

With each passing minute, the Pit Demon Spider got weaker and weaker, because the Fel was completely overwhelming the poor Spirit Beast that had no means of fighting back against the Fel.

It has the ability to spread towards the host's body. The Fel had a rather devastating attack on the Pit Demon Spider's body. Just after ten minutes, since the creature was infected, the Pit Demon Spider started losing a great deal of strength in his body. Soon enough, the Pid Demon Spider barely had the strength to continue attacking Hun Tiandi.

The crimson-haired boy stopped fighting the Spirit Beast as he observed the Pit Demon Spider slowly dying in agonizing death as it was being consumed from the inside by the Fel.

"It's very indeed effective on the weaker beings than me... from the effect on the Pit Demon Spider that was fairly powerful is nothing but staggering."

He watched the Pit Demon Spider struggle a bit before it would die, as he delivered the finishing blow to the Pit Demon Spider, and killed the Spirit Beast instantly.

At the same time, when the Pit Demon Spider died, he started absorbing its Spirit Ring to form his 2nd Spirit Ring. The process of the absorption of the Spirit Ring was faster than the 1st Spirit Ring from the Man Faced Demon Spider, and he had to admit that he was handling the pressure of the much older Spirit Ring very easily.

Even the two Titled Douluo, the Golden Crocodile Douluo and Chrysanthemum Douluo, were watching this with fascination that Hun Tiandi indeed managed to assimilate another far older Spirit Ring than anyone thought was possible.

It was indeed fascinating, but the results were indeed true. This wasn't limited just to the Hun Tiandi, but even across the Spirit Hall's younger generation, they were many that absorbed Spirit Rings much older than was previously generally accepted.

At the same time, right now, that was limited only to the core members of the Spirit Hall, because nobody wished for this information to spread across the Douluo Continent, because that could have some really disastrous consequences at a later date.

Right now, the Spirit Hall was going to keep it secret as much as possible, but those with strong physiques and Spiritual Realms could easily accommodate the powerful Spirit Rings and break the so-called common sense.

Not long afterward, Hun Tiandi was finished with the assimilation of the 2nd Spirit Rink, and he also noticed that his Spirit Rank went up by 1 Level, which was a rather welcomed surprise, even though he was rather disappointed that it didn't go up by more Levels.

Still, he obtained a new Spirit Skill, and this time, it was equally powerful and ridiculous as the Fel.

It was something that was called Life Hunt and essentially allowed him to use the Bloodviolet Seven Star Fiend Sword to drain the Life Force from the target when he killed his opponent and use the Life Force to strengthen himself.

Obviously, the gains were not anything miraculous and something that would make him overpowered in a few nights, but it was a very powerful ability and also something that was very suited to the worlds like Douluo Continent or Dou Qi Continent, where battles to death were as common as breathing.

Now that he had obtained two very powerful Spirit Skills from something that seemed to be rather an unassuming Spirit Beast, he pondered over this because he realized that this was something that was far above the norm.

As someone who had lived many millennia in the Douluo Continent and, attained high cultivation in the Doulou Continent, and was closest to the Dou God before finally reaching the Dou God Realm, he knew that his luck in this world must be something truly extraordinary.

Which was very unusual because in the Dou Qi Continent, he wasn't considered the luckiest person around. The concept of Luck was something very vaguely developed in the Dou Qi Continent, and the concept of Luck was even more non-existent within the Douluo Continent.

But Hun Tiandi wasn't really someone who was not knowledgeable about the concept of Luck and the Heavenly Laws that governed the world or, in this case, worlds. Luck was paramount; if the person had a very high amount of Luck, they would have many fortuitous encounters, obtain treasures or face no bottlenecks in the cultivation.

Thus, having a high amount of Good Luck was something that was paramount, and this wasn't tied only to the people, but also to the factions like the Sects and the Clans. Now that he thought it over, it was more than evident that the luck of his Hall of Souls and Hun Clan must be pretty bad because they couldn't survive their very first serious tribulation.

Which resulted in their utter destruction and annihilation of all of its members.

And it was evident that Xiao Yan, who killed him, was someone who had an unnatural amount of Good Luck, as if he was chosen by the Destiny itself. It was the most particular and unique situation, but he knew that there was something that made his Luck much better.

The evidence was right in front of him.

He was able to get Spirits Skills that were so powerful and had such high potential that they were already outmatching the heavy majority of all the Spirit Skills that Titled Douluos obtained for their 9th Spirit Ring.

With the 2nd Spirit Ring obtained for the Bloodviolet Seven Star Fiend Sword Martial Soul, he had essentially fulfilled his goal that he had when he went to the Star Dou Forest. While he still needed the Spirit Rings for Hao Yue, that was something that he couldn't force because Hao Yue would choose its own.

That was something that was almost set in stone and couldn't be changed.

While he wanted to use this opportunity to gather the Spirit Rings for Hao Yue, but he could see that Hao Yue or the Austin Griffin Martial Soul wasn't really that interested in obtaining a new Spirit Rings for himself.

Due to the connection that he had with the Hao Yue, he was able to sense that the Austin Griffin Martial Soul wasn't interested in anything or any other different Spirit Beast that could become the Spirit Ring.

"So what did you obtain this time, boy? Judging based on your expression I would be my gourd that you obtain once again some ridiculous Spirit Skills."

When the Golden Crocodile Douluo Jin Eyu saw the expression of the future Holy Son of the Spirit Hall and the one that had right now the highest chance to ascend to Godhood, the elderly man immediately realized that he obtained something good.

"Actually, yes... but it is not anything that can be used offensively or anything, at least I think."

Life Hunt was indeed something that couldn't be used offensively, but if he had developed the Spirit Skill to greater heights, there would have been some possibility of it being used offensively.

Still, the sheer possibility of being able to devour the Life Force of the opponent was something that had tremendous potential and could greatly speed up his cultivation speed, especially the Body Tempering aspect.

Even in the Dou Qi Continent, Body Tempering wasn't something that was overly developed, and in the Douluo Continent, it was equally underdeveloped as well. While he did some Body Tempering during his time as the Patriarch of the Hun Clan, he tempered his Physique a bit, but not by that much.

Though at the same time, he was aware of the Body Tempering techniques that were developed in the Dou Qi Continent because it was one of his hobbies... gathering all kinds of techniques and methods of cultivation.

While he didn't really use approximately 99% of them, he still had the knowledge of them even though he would never really use them. So, right now, he was rather pleased that he would be using some of them together with the Life Hunt.

Even though the Life Hunt was powerful, the most significant downside of the Life Hunt was that, if not used in correlation with some sort of Body Tempering Method, then the effects of the Life Force would be much lower.

Practically, only some small part of the Life Force that was absorbed by the Life Hunt would be effectively used, while the rest of it would be lost in the process. Now that he pondered over it, he would need to select a suitable Body Tempering Method for him.

"Dammit... if it continues like this, I will certainly think that you are the son of the Destiny or Luck itself..."

Listening to the explanation about the 2nd Spirit Skill for the Bloodviolet Seven Star Fiend Sword Martial Soul, which left both the Golden Crocodile Douluo Jin Eyue and Chrysanthemum Douluo Yue Guan totally speechless.

The Golden Crocodile Douluo was especially bewildered by the 2nd Spirit Skill that Hun Tiandi obtained for the Bloodviolet Seven Star Fiend Sword Martial Soul, and because Hun Tiandi was spending most of his time in the Douluo Consecration Hall, Jin Eyu was very close to the boy and knew his capabilities very well.

"So what else now, boy? Are we going back to the Spirit City, or are we continuing the hunt for the Spirit Rings for your second Martial Soul?"

The Golden Crocodile Douluo asked him with a raised eyebrow because while the Bloodviolet Seven Star Fiend Sword Martial Soul already had two Spirit Rings, his second Martial Soul, Austin Griffin, still had zero.

"I guess going back home... Hao Yue doesn't want to obtain a new Spirit Rings for him so that I will leave it to fate."

Hun Tiandi knew that it was impossible for him to force Hao Yue to obtain another 2nd Spirit Rings. He decided that the best course of action would leave it to the Hao Yue, as he felt that the Austin Griffin Martial Soul would choose its own Spirit Ring when the time was right.

By now, even an idiot could tell that the Austin Griffin Martial Soul wasn't an ordinary Martial Soul by any means, and that wasn't saying anything about the fact that the Martial Soul was a Detached Martial Soul.

"As you say...."

With that being decided, they would be slowly heading towards the Spirit City.

Hun Tiandi was also eager to return back to the Spirit City and resume his cultivation because now that he had obtained a Spirit Ring for the Bloodviolet Seven Star Fiend Sword Martial Soul, he could continue in the cultivation and try to reach higher Spirit Ranks as soon as possible.

***

The journey to the Spirit City was rather lengthy because the Spirit City wasn't that close to the Star Dou Forest, but with their current speed, they managed to return to the Spirit City within a few days.

As they returned to the Spirit City, the entire place was bustling with the people because, as he had found out, the Spirit Hall had already started the complete reformation of the structure of the Spirit Hall.

The Supreme Pontiff saw great merit in the restructualization of the Spirit Hall and making it more efficient than before. Unfortunately, for the time being, the establishment of the Burial Agency was postponed because there was nobody who could fill up the higher echelons of the Burial Agency.

They needed at least the Hyper Douluos for the positions of the first three Tianzuns that would be head of the Holy Inquisition, Knights Templar, and the Assembly of the Eight Sacreament and obviously the Director of the Burial Agency.

That was something that bothered Hun Tiandi a bit because, in his opinion, the Spirit Hall right now wasn't flexible enough and couldn't rapidly react to the solution... something that the Hall of Souls always could do in the Dou Qi Continent, even though they were not always the most successful ones.
