It had happened suddenly. The near fall, landing in Ruan's arms, and the unexpected kiss. Everything occurred at once, and Jax, who had always wanted to kiss Ruan, was too dumbstruck to kiss him back when their lips touched.
The moment was broken by the shattering of the glass cup Ruan had thrown up when he caught Jax in his arms.
"Wha…" Jax pulled out of Ruan's arms, embarrassed by how things had turned out, and rushed toward where the glass had shattered.
He was embarrassed because he hadn't kissed Ruan back. Jax could feel his face turning red and his hands shaking as he picked up the glass from the ground.
