Dr. Lee leaned back in her chair, her pen resting lightly against her notebook. Her eyes were on Ruan, and even though she wasn't saying anything, he could feel the weight of her gaze, like she was waiting for him to spill.
"So tell me…"
Ruan gasped and heaved a deep sigh, rubbing his chest.
"Calm down," she muttered. "I am not going to ask questions you don't wish to respond to."
Ruan nodded and relaxed in the chair.
"So tell me, ever since you came to the island, how has it been for you?"
"Great. I mean, I am free to be whoever I want on this island without being in the public eye. That's great."
"Ruan, you said you're liking how your life is turning out, which is a big shift from where you were a few weeks ago, right?" she asked.
Ruan nodded.
"That moment you mentioned, the one that made you feel 'on top of the world'—how has it shaped the way you're seeing your life right now? Has it added something new to this sense of 'okay' you're feeling?"
