Chapter 64 - Pt. 8: 63: Mafia & Slayer's Entanglement

The couple's moment never seems to change. They still had their usual morning banter; their workflow in the same company, and handling outdoor meetings was still the same. However, their understanding and communication made their trust harden, but not until nighttime comes once again.

"Night shift again?" Skylar almost sounded like pouting, making Vincencio chuckle.

"Always the night shift, wifey," Vincencio responded while wearing his shoes.

"Can I come with you?" she wondered, making him sigh before turning to her.

"Like you have nothing to do." With a playful smirk, he said and kissed her temple.

"What do you mean?" she asked, frowning.

"You know what I mean." He chuckled and pecked her lips before leaving their house. "See you later, I love you."

"Seriously, this man, learning how to escape my questions." Skylar sighed while shaking her head amusingly before turning serious. "But he was right, though. I'm finishing this hunt. Just wait, Hebi."

Skylar headed to her main quarters, in her company, at her penthouse, and without knocking, she entered with composure. However, also lethally dangerous, making the three people inside shiver.

"Are you okay?" With a skeptical tone, Joey asked, smirking.

"I'm pretty much fine. Why?" Skylar replied coldly, dropping her keys before removing her coat and hanging it on the rack.

"You're more dangerous than before, Mom," Irina answered, grinning slyly, making Skylar smirk while shaking her head.

"Really? Then my three days of training paid off." She responded proudly while folding her sleeves into three-fourths.

"You've learned something else, too, didn't you?" With an amused tone, Irina noticed Skylar gently ruffled her hair, chuckling.

"You're vampire instincts were working." She teased.

"I'll take that as a compliment." Irina grinned.

"I know you would. Prepare me your cookies, and Beta, updates." She said sweetly before turning serious at Medina, who was leaning by her private, secluded office door.

"The Hebi is still on the move, and the last report I received from Delta and Omega, stating the same thing, his connection to Monica and SRF," Medina stated the information they've got, but trailed off, reading the rest of the report before sharing it. "From what Delta got, SRF didn't give anything to Hebi when he asked for a few firearms and FRSil medicines, and since he's fooling around with Monica, he decided to use the woman and got the information where to get them."

"And how did Monica know about them?" she curiously wondered as she checked the CCTV live footage in areas where their prey was found.

"Well, MG is known for having two-faced clients who are mostly targeted by goons, and Monica fooled dangerously with," Medina replied.

"From the last time I was there, MG's security is easy to infiltrate like an open trap, which I've witnessed how their boss made sure that a certain area was only designated for invaders." Skylar grinned, recalling the moment she witnessed how everything was placed for any invaders at the MG's port.

"Why, you sounded like you wanted to befriend this MG Boss?" With a grin, Medina wondered carefully, noticing the fascination in Skylar's voice.

"There's nothing wrong with adding another asset to the team, and besides, I'm thinking of sealing ports in case my prey decides to sneak out from my sight. I need eyes everywhere, and I know our men can't easily get into the port without revealing our background." Skylar replied with slyness in her tone, making Medina shake her head.

"That's a possibility, but how could we connect with the MG Boss?" Medina asked.

"Tonight, I've got the feeling we're going to meet because of the same prey." She answered as she headed out of her private office, grabbing her cookies.

"That made sense." She agreed with her boss.

"Keep me posted," Skylar said, gearing up before heading to the door. "I'll be on my way."

"Take care, Mom!"

Skylar smirked and waved her hand, leaving her penthouse when she heard Irina shout from the kitchen. As she went into her private lift, her eyes turned into something predatory, and Rose Slayer is on.

***

Waves over the shore, shipping boats' horns, and clattering metals from huge cargos made noise around the Midnight Guardian port's perimeter. Those sounds echoed into the night when a screeching sound from a Ducati parked in darkness among tall bushes on the side of the road, where the moon was getting into its peak at the seaport. Rose Slayer stepped off from her motorbike and sneaked deeper into the shadow of the port without being noticed. She might arrive earlier than the last time she was there, but it was better to be early to check things before her prey arrived.

"Still easy." She mumbled as she waltzed near the MG Port's perimeter.

Carefully, Rose Slayer roamed closer to the MG, hiding from cargos to securities' shadows without getting caught. However, her track suddenly halted when she sensed something piercing locked on her. She quickly moved like the wind and vanished from anyone's sight before huffing on the shadow.

"That was close." She mumbled amusingly before adding, "I bet that's him."

As she took her little break and ate the cookies, she carefully watched how the MG moved at night. So far, nothing bad was happening. It flowed smoothly, and she was fascinated by how the MG lived up to its name by having tight security that their clients trusted.

"He really thought this well…" She thought, approving the MG even more, but her guts tell her something. "…his reminding me of him – Vince. Wait! Why am I thinking about him as my hubby? Oh, I must be missing hubby."

Rose Slayer snapped when she noticed some movement from the MG's office, revealing her two gammas doing their work. She carefully watched them, noticing how well they were doing whenever they were not assigned a task. However, she noticed something heavy in their eyes. Something deep, reflecting into their eyes, making her help them. She followed and carefully eavesdropped on their conversation.

"You're stupid, Prince."

"I didn't tell him directly, but he cornered me, and it slipped. You know that they have the same vibe."

"True, but how can we tell the Alpha about the boss?"

"So, he knew." She thought amusingly but wondered, "But how?"

"Should we call her now?"

"And tell her what? Does the boss want to work together? Do you even realize that Alpha Lar won't let anyone get involved in her matters? She won't let him get involved once she knows."

"Knew what?" With a thick and cold voice, Rose Slayer spoke, letting her presence be known to the siblings.

"Alpha!" Prince exclaimed, almost jumping from his spot since she was standing behind him.

"What are you doing here?" Lesley curiously asked rather than being worried.

"Surveilling and waiting for a prey. So, care to spill the tea that I've heard?" She replied nonchalantly, circling them carefully, making the siblings nervous, and she chuckled. "Don't worry, I'm going to harm your boss here. So tell me what he wants."

"Work together. Exchanging information since Night Hound has plenty of connections, whether in the royal family, business fellow, or mafia. He was hoping to have a connection to a well-known killer in the city." Lesley answered honestly, and that was what Rose Slayer wanted - honesty.

"Why did he want to have a connection with me?" she curiously wondered.

"He said not wanting to cross fire with a killer unless it endangered what he had," Prince answered her this time, and even though it sounded fishy, Rose Slayer nodded in consideration when she noticed the time.

"Hm, fair enough. I'll think about it, but for now, let me work." She gave them her response before walking back into the shadows. "My prey is about to arrive."

"Sounded like you two had the same prey." Lesley noticed, making Rose Slayer chuckle.

"We do." She replied and vanished into the shadows.

***

At the same time and in the same area in the port, the snake finally came, sneaking but not without being detected or readied for his arrival. The same area was still open, untouched, and empty, but different. It has impending eeriness as two pairs of eyes locked on their prey.

"Keep it low and spread out. Inform me as soon as you find it."

"Yes, boss."

"I'll get it done tonight."

As thirty men sneaked inside, outnumbering the security personnel of tonight's shift in the same area, the snake, Luca Madrigal, came back prepared but not prepared enough to deal with two dangerous people in the city. Sneaky, they moved into the area, knocking down a few security measures before checking the containers, which one by one were filled with either empty boxes, junk, or different items that they weren't looking for. However, they were thieves, and some of them began stealing items with high value in the market.

"Boss, we're getting a few of these."

"Sure, but don't take much because we're here for firearms and that FRSil."

"I thought FRSil is dangerous."

"It is that's why they want it. Hurry up and find it before they take notice."

They searched until it paid off. It was just an hour when they found what they were looking for, which to Rose Slayer was a trap. She didn't make a move and let her prey have his joy of getting what he had been looking for. Also, she wanted to witness how the MG's boss dealt with them – him again.

"Come out now, Night Hound." She thought in excitement while she was hiding in the second floor's empty storage room, watching everything start to unfold when she saw a familiar back, him. "Finally."

As soon as the MG boss stepped into the same area, everything went heavy. The eeriness thickened. It was followed by a clattering sound from the opening containers, revealing the rest of the assigned security team. They began shooting, and gunfire erupted, amusing Rose Slayer, feeling the same rush when she was in the middle of the battlefield. But since Luca was being a snake, trying to escape, sacrificing thirty men to get what he wanted, Rose Slayer made her move.

"You're not going anywhere." She muttered and dashed behind her prey's tail.

Rose Slayer liked the way Luca, the Hebi, feared for his life while carrying what he managed to take with him. She taunted him, but what surprised her was a familiar string cutting the snake's feet, making him stumble and scream. He was in agony, bleeding as he tried to crawl away, but he could not make it when a bullet landed on his head and a sword landed on his chest, killing him instantly.

She was not surprised, but instead, she was amused. She let the man show up first, checking for any sign of life, and to ensure his death, he pierced the sword deeply to the point it passed through the back. Rose Slayer can't hold it any longer and laughed.

"Ruthless, but that's a nice shot, sharp shooter, MG's boss, Night Hound." Rose Slayer was praised amusingly as she appeared behind the man, calculating but prepared.

"Same goes for you." Night Hound refuted with the same amusement before facing his visitor, pointing guns at each other.

They stared for a few seconds as her glowing red-mauve burns met the golden amber, creating an atmosphere that made them jolt in recognition. Rose Slayer couldn't understand the sudden feelings toward the masked man until he lowered his gun in surrender. She frowned, calculating her next move as she kept observing him for a moment before finally putting her gun down as well.

"Let's talk, Rose Slayer." Night Hound coldly said and walked past her, letting his men clean the mess in the area.

However, before Rose Slayer could process everything or say anything, her sight suddenly spun, and out of the blue, she lost consciousness. Luckily, Night Hound caught her and took her into his office.

'Wake up, wifey.'

Rose Slayer jolted up, raising her gun, pointing around the almost empty office until she found Night Hound swamped with paperwork on his desk.

"Glad you're awake. My doctor said you're exhausted." Night Hound said, still not looking at her, but Rose Slayer quickly checked her face when she heard him. "And don't worry, I didn't take off your mask if that's what you're worried about."

"Why did you take me in?" Rose Slayer softly wondered, trying to ease a little pain over her head.

"I'm not like the others who lock anyone in the dungeon and torture them. I only do that to those who wronged Midnight Guardians." He answered, still not looking at her, making her frown, and was about to say something when someone knocked and entered the office. "I know they've been working for you. So, no need to be skeptical around me, Rose Slayer. I'm not going to harm you."
