Chapter 47 - Pt. 7: 46: Brewing Calamity

"Dammit. Head to the circle. Drive there twice before crossing Night Street."

"Sir, at six, here they are."

"Dammit, why did it have to be tonight? Drive faster."

"Yes, sir."

"Please, stay asleep. I don't want you to see this."

"Make a quick turn."

"But it will make our car stumble."

"I know, just do it."

"What are you doing, hubby? What's happening?" With panic, Skylar thought in worry. However, her body and eyes were still down, too tired to respond to her call, making her frustrated. "DAMMIT! WAKE UP, SKY!"

Despite wanting to help, Skylar can't. Her body won't let her. However, she could feel how their car moved drastically at every command Vincencio said in the race. But each instructed move was a delicate stunt that can't be undone. Skylar felt tension from Vincencio's hold; it was tightened but secured.

"Whoever ruined our night will pay," Skylar thought viciously before complaining about her tired body. "Damn this body whenever it reaches its limit."

As the race went on in a circle, Vincencio directed them to leave the car in one swift move. As if on cue, a loud collision happened. It made their vehicle stumble like a ball before it hit another, causing an explosion, and jolting Skylar's body. She was up but woke up in the arms of the unconscious body of her husband.

"Hubby..." Skylar mumbled weakly, breaking free from his hold until she felt a sting over her head. She touched it, and it was bleeding, but a warm hand touched her face, snapping her out of it, and exclaimed. "VINCE!"

"Are you okay?" Weakly, Vincencio still managed to ask.

"I am, but you're bleeding," Skylar answered as she weakly got up, making Vincencio chuckle.

"Of course, something got stuck behind me. Luckily, it didn't hit you." He responded, making her frown and check his back before gasping.

"HOLY SHIT! I'll call an ambulance." Skylar surprisingly reacted. She quickly grabbed her phone, panicking when Vincencio weakly handed her a card.

"Call this hotline, wifey…and please…don't panic too much…I'll be good." He said between coughs, making Skylar madly worried.

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SAYING?! YOU'RE BLEEDING BADLY." Skylar shouted in worry while dialing the number from the card and shutting her husband up from speaking too much. "NOT A WORD, MISTER. REST."

"You're still hot and beautiful when mad." He still managed to praise her, making her pissed.

"ARGH! SHUT UP, HUBBY, AND SAVE YOUR FUCKING ENERGY!" She reminded him before informing the person on the next line about the accident they got into. "I'm sorry about that; my husband and I got into an accident at the boundary of Night Street in the Night Ave District. My husband is badly injured with a metal stuck in his back. Please, hurry."

"I'll be okay, just breathe," he reminded her, which Skylar did.

"Save it, mister. I'm pissed." She spat in worry.

"Cute." He chuckled before coughing, annoying Skylar more.

"Shut up." She groaned, trying to check if there were other wounds to tend while waiting for help to arrive.

"Fine, I will." He smiled weakly when sirens from an ambulance approached them.

Arriving at the Avalon Medical Institute, Vincencio was quickly rushed to the operating room. Skylar was treated at the emergency room, where she called her team and went to the OR's waiting area.

"I'm at Avalon Medical Institute," Skylar said shortly before cutting the call.

Skylar was fully treated, waiting restlessly in the OR's waiting area when her team arrived. The team wasn't surprised to meet the ghost of their past, but they were more curious about her empty orbs.

"Don't start." Skylar coldly stopped her before grimly commanding them. "Joshie, track them. Medina, find them. Lesley, Prince, ensure you capture them, and Joey, prepare my blades and chemicals."

"Chemicals?" Skeptical, Joey asked carefully since Skylar was being much more dangerous than before.

"You heard me, Joey," she coldly said and firmly added. "Don't do anything once you find them. I'll make them pay as soon as he's safe. Are we clear?"

"Yes," they responded.

"Spread out." She coldly dismissed them with a warning. "Don't miss a thing whoever did this."

"Sky, they'll be here," Medina said, patting her shoulder, leaving Skylar with a brewing storm swirling around her chest.

***

It has been two hours ever since Vincencio has been inside the operating room, making Skylar more distant and colder than she used to be. She was unreadable, expressionless, and lethally dangerous, making the hospital hall fade in the background. She didn't even realize that her busy guardians, her uncle, Adrian Saison, and his wife were already at her side.

"Sky, have you eaten?" A gentle voice from a woman, her aunt-in-law, Hibiki Saison, sitting beside her, asked.

"I'm good," Skylar responded coldly, making Adrian sigh.

"How long has he been inside?" Adrian gently asked just to keep Skylar preoccupied for a while.

"Two hours and fifteen minutes and still counting." She answered flatly, making Hibiki worry, and rubbed her back gently.

"He'll be fine. He's stronger than you know," Hibiki assured her.

"Perhaps," she replied coldly but grew darker.

Her guardians sensed the brewing turmoil around Skylar, and they could not say anything against it. In her place, they would be the same, but Skylar is worse. She was becoming more lethal as each tick of time passed, and still no update on her husband's well-being.

"Skylar, be strong for him," Adrian said, messing her hair, which she was supposed to be mad about; however, at the moment, she wasn't. She was lost and furious.

"Always do." She answered emotionless before adding, "Uncle, I spread them, and please, notify Lady Rose about this. They'll know what to do."

"Okay, I'll make a call," with a sigh, Adrian said, understanding the brewing danger that her niece was about to release.

As Adrian made some phone calls and Hibiki bought some food, Skylar quickly got up when a doctor with radiant blond hair and stunning blue eyes caught hers. Both felt something strange as soon as their eyes locked onto each other but quickly hid it and met halfway.

"Relative of Vincencio Saison-Monsour, I presume?" The doctor asked for assurance, making Skylar nod.

"I'm his wife," Skylar responded coldly, making the doctor flinch a little.

"Good, it's you that you're here," the doctor answered, masking the sudden fear she felt when she heard Skylar's voice before informing her the operation was a success. "He's out of danger, but he lost a lot of blood due to his deep wound from the accident. The metal at his back scratches some organs, causing internal bleeding, taking us this long to stop the bleeding. He also had a broken bone around his right arm, which we already patched with a cast. Overall, the operation is successful, and he's safe."

"Thank you, doctor." Skylar thanked the doctor as her tears finally gave in and fell from her eyes, and then she asked. "Can I see him?"

"You can. He'll be transferred to his room." The doctor answered with a genuine smile.

"Thank you so much, doctor." Skylar thanked the doctor again, and both went their separate ways. But somewhere at the back of Skylar's mind, she wondered. "Why do I feel like I've seen her before?"

***

In the clean and spacious VIP hospital room of Vincencio, Skylar wouldn't have moved from her husband's side if Hibiki and Adrian hadn't insisted she change or sleep on the sofa bed in the room. She has been sleeping ever since Vincencio was transferred. She was afraid of sleeping, but she still does.

"Where am I?" Skylar coldly wondered. She found herself surrounded by serene nature, an oasis at the aisle, and the moon shining at its highest peak.

Without anyone around, Skylar tried to wander, but her feet were stuck on the grassy ground. She tried to escape but couldn't, leading to frustration. Over time, she gave up, tired, and sat at the same spot. With grumpiness on her face, a familiar amused giggle echoed in the peaceful scenery.

"It's not funny," Skylar grumpily said, ignoring the fact she didn't know who she was talking to.

"Well, it is."

"Shut up, and who are you anyway, hiding in the shadow of a pine tree?" She grumpily asked, not looking where the voice was coming from. She was annoyed from being stuck in her place.

"Wow, how did you know my exact location?"

"I'm sensitive to any unfamiliar places or people around me." She responded coldly, making her miss her husband.

"Then, what do you say about my presence?"

"Familiar. But I'm sure we haven't met before." She replied, but somehow, oddly, she found herself smirking.

"Oh, but we do."

"What?" She reacted in shock, and when she turned around to face the person she was talking to, she met a silver-grey wolf that made her recall her first defeat in a sprinting contest.

"Hi."

Skylar snapped from a daze, and with reflexes, her hard punch landed perfectly on the wolf's head, making it stumble backward, whining. She looked back and forth at her fist and the wolf in disbelief.

"You're hurt with my punch?" Skylar asked in disbelief because she knew that even a wolf wouldn't be whining and stumbling on a simple punch from a human fist.

"Obviously."

"I'm a human, and you're not an ordinary wolf," she responded, not believing what he was saying.

"First, are you sure about that? And second, I'm a werewolf."

"What is this wolf saying?" Skylar thought but quickly ignored it and coldly responded. "That figure. But how come you can speak like a human?"

"I can't speak like a human. I could only speak through people I'm connected with, especially with my mate."

"Okay, this is too much. Way too much. I need to wake up; my husband needs me." Skylar stopped the wolf from speaking too much about something she was not ready to hear. She was more interested in securing her unconscious husband and making those people pay for what they did to him.

"Don't worry about him. He's healing perfectly, though he needs enough sleep to recover quickly."

"You sounded like you know my husband better than I do." With narrowed eyes, she noticed, making the wolf close the gap between them.

"Maybe. Stay here for a while."

"Why can I not move away from this wolf? He still reminds me of Vincencio," Skylar thought as she was captivated by the strong and familiar presence that the wolf was giving to her before whispering. "I can't..."

"But your body says otherwise."

"Why you!" She exclaimed, glaring at the wolf.

"Rest, Sky. You need that. Your body needs it, and you know it."

"This wolf is something. Same as him...caring." Skylar thought, melting as a simple, gentle nudge came from the wolf before she yawned, warning him. "Don't do anything stupid. I'll sleep for a while."

***

Drifted into a peaceful sleep, the odd dream was forgotten until a buzzing alarm from somewhere woke Skylar up. Her eyes fluttered, adjusting her sight and recollection of where she was, making her get up and quickly check on Vincencio.

"He's fine." Amused, Hibiki reacted when she saw how worried Skylar was as she ran to Vincencio's bed.

"I didn't know you had a sweet bone," Adrian teased as she placed hot-brewed coffee on the table with a set of breakfast for three. "Let's eat."

"Go ahead. I'll eat later." Skylar responded fairly coldly, which Adrian noticed was a shift. He knew Skylar was holding on, but it was only a matter of time before she exploded.

Skylar might have been fully rested from an odd dream, but seeing Vincencio still asleep, she can't stay still and do nothing. She was furious but barely holding on. She gently touched his sleeping face, memorizing them.

"Remember what I said, I'll burn everything to keep you safe. I'll ensure they'll pay for all of these." With conviction, Skylar whispered coldly, holding mixed emotions that burned deeply within her.

"Sky, are you sure you'll stay here? We can watch him for you," Hibiki asked gently after eating, catching Skylar's attention.

"Yes, Aunt Hibiki. I want to stay, and besides, who's going to fire me when I still work if I'm not around the company?" Skylar responded coldly, but her mild coldness can be compared to a brewing strong typhoon.

"Okay, if you say so. I'll bring some extra clothes for you after my shift." Hibiki responded while packing Skylar's dirty clothes from last night.

"Here's your breakfast, and make sure to call. Give us updates." Adrian added on cue before placing the breakfast for his niece.

"I will, and thanks for staying with me last night." She genuinely thanked her guardians. Despite their busy schedules, they still managed to give extra time, even for a while. She appreciated them.
