"Vireee~!"
Suddenly, the sharp cry of Electivire drew everyone's attention.
The gathered Pokémon turned their heads and were immediately stunned.
Electivire's body had swollen harshly, as if someone had beaten him until he puffed up like a balloon.
"Gaaaar!"
Who did this to you, big bro?! I'll avenge you!
Caught off guard, Garchomp quickly rushed over to help his comrade.
"Vireee~!"
It was those damn things… over there!
Electivire slumped against Garchomp's side trembling, his arm shakily pointing toward the five Regi Pokémon that had been summoned by the Mews.
"Gaaar!"
Unforgivable! You dare do this to my brother?! I'll let it go this time—but next time, you're dead!
Sensing the overwhelming pressure radiating from those enemies, Garchomp bit back his rage and instead helped Electivire over to Torterra for healing.
"Draah~"
"Aggrr~"
Nearby, Drapion and Aggron narrowed their eyes as they looked toward Mew and its summoned allies. A heavy sense of tension lingered—but beneath it, a thrill they couldn't suppress.
When you know there's no escape, facing it head-on—that's what being a warrior is all about!
They were already curious: Which Regi or which Mew would they be fighting?
"Eeno~"
By contrast, Froslass showed no excitement at all. She floated silently at Paul's side, almost like she didn't exist.
Against opponents of similar strength, she might have a chance against the type of Regidrago or Regieleki. But these were entities far, far beyond her level.
This was a battle she couldn't win and Froslass couldn't muster any enthusiasm for it.
"Mew~"
One of the Mews raised its arm with a flick.
Immediately, the five Regi Pokémon it had summoned retreated to the edges of the battlefield, standing still like silent sentinels. Paul was also teleported to a safe location near the perimeter.
Now, only six of Paul's Pokémon remained on the central field—facing six Mews head-on.
"Mew~"
The six Mews began to glow, each transforming into a different Pokémon.
Some were small in stature: Celebi, Articuno, and Heatran.
Others were massive: Rayquaza, Zekrom, and Yveltal.
Each transformation mirrored one of Paul's Pokémon: Torterra, Froslass, Aggron, Garchomp, Electivire, and Drapion—perfectly aligned for one-on-one confrontations.
With six Legendary and Mythical Pokémon manifesting at once, the air around them grew tense and suffocating.
Celebi, Articuno, and Heatran weren't too intimidating—their relatively small builds made their presence manageable. But the other three? That was overkill. Each of them was a true Legendary Beast of immense power.
Under normal circumstances, encountering any of those three in the wild would be disastrous. Even a Champion-level trainer would stand little chance of defeating them.
If anyone could hope to stand their ground against these so-called "Tier One Legends," it would have to be Red or Leon—the two trainers considered to have the most comprehensive strength among all Pokémon trainers.
But right now, that didn't matter. It was clear as day: the Pokémon transformed by Mew were overwhelmingly stronger than Paul's own team.
"Rrraah!"
All six Legendary Pokémon roared in unison, signaling Paul's team to step forward and begin the battle.
Paul's six Pokémon exchanged glances—and then without hesitation, they launched their attacks at their respective opponents.
"Raaaa!"
Torterra led the charge, unleashing a Frenzy Plant toward Celebi with devastating power.
"Bii~!"
But Celebi only smiled sweetly and wiggled a finger. In an instant, it activated its psychic and innate powers, wresting control of the Frenzy Plant from Torterra and reversing it—the massive vines now thrashed wildly at Torterra instead.
Torterra barely managed to block the assault by using Protect, but as it countered with a barrage of Magical Leaf and Leaf Storm, Celebi responded with an even more powerful Leaf Storm that completely overpowered him. Torterra was instantly trapped within a swirling cyclone of leaves and unable to move, until he collapsed and was declared unable to battle.
Elsewhere, Froslass and Articuno danced through the blizzard, their forms phasing in and out of sight. Froslass initiated a stealth assault using Double Team tactics to weaken her foe, cloaking her true form with illusions and blending into the snow.
Under normal conditions, that might have worked. But Articuno, an Ice-type born of blizzards, had an acute sensitivity to every shift within the snowstorm. Combined with its vastly superior strength, Froslass never stood a chance. No matter how well she hid, Articuno tracked her down effortlessly.
After a brief game of cat-and-mouse, Articuno struck her down with a single sweeping wing.
Aggron, meanwhile, was completely outmatched by Heatran. It tried to initiate Earthquake to exploit its type advantage, only to find that in the depths of the Tree of Beginning, seismic moves simply couldn't be executed.
Left with no better option, Aggron launched a desperate Double-Edge charge—but Heatran met it head-on with Iron Head, sending Aggron flying backward. It opened its jaws and unleashed a Magma Storm that engulfed Aggron in flames, rapidly draining its HP.
Aggron responded with Metal Burst—but it only barely dispersed the Magma Storm and the lingering heat finished it off shortly after.
Garchomp charged at Rayquaza with fearless determination, unleashing its full power. The sheer force was overwhelming. Yet, with a single move—Dragon Ascent, Rayquaza eliminated it instantly.
Drapion had already been petrified by Yveltal's Oblivion Wing.
In the blink of an eye, only Electivire remained standing on the battlefield.
"Vireee~"
Facing Zekrom, Electivire initially appeared pleased—after all, it could absorb electricity with ease.
As an Electric-type Pokémon, who could possibly intimidate it?
Without hesitation, it launched a Thunder attack at Zekrom, drawing its full attention.
"Roar?"
Zekrom scratched the spot where Thunder had struck, tilting its head in confusion at Electivire. Then, activating its Overdrive mode, it retaliated with Fusion Bolt.
Confident from past experiences with electricity, Electivire boldly opened its arms to receive the attack.
Moments later, it lay scorched on the ground, smoke curling from its mouth, and eyes filled with disbelief—had its Motor Drive ability failed?
Zekrom's ability—Teravolt, allows it to bypass the opponent's abilities when using moves.
This ability effectively nullifies Motor Drive. As the ancestor of all Pokémon, Mew can perfectly replicate even abilities when transforming.
"Mew~"
Seeing its six opponents fall so effortlessly, Mew reverted to its original form waving nonchalantly. The Tree of Beginning emitted a green light, healing all the Pokémon.
"What a fair battle." Paul remarked, noting Mew's strategic choices.
The transformed Pokémon weren't just overpowering; their species were chosen with clear intent.
Celebi's plant manipulation, Articuno's Snow Cloak and Mind Reader, Zekrom's Teravolt...
No tactics, just overwhelming stats and abilities.
"Mew~"
Unhappy with the comment, Mew teleported beside Paul, puffing its cheeks and staring at him as if asking, "What would be fair, then?"
"Transform into the same species as my Pokémon or suppress your strength to their level. That way, defeating them would be more meaningful." Paul suggested.
The former would ignite the Pokémon's fighting spirit; the latter would give his team a fighting chance.
"Mew~"
With a proud chirp, Mew transformed its clones into the same species as Paul's Pokémon, simultaneously suppressing their power.
"Drah~"
"Viree~"
"..."
Instantly, all of Paul's Pokémon gazed at Mew with a peculiar glint in their eyes.
Same species, same strength—wasn't this a gift?
As expected in the following battles, Mew was nearly driven to tears. It couldn't counterattack, let alone defend.
When had little Mew ever suffered such humiliation?
Mid-battle, the Mew clones collectively teleported away, starting to use moves from other species—
Though in Electivire's body, a slam to the ground unleashed a cliff sword pierced, striking down the airborne Electivire.
Yet in Torterra's form, a Giga Impact was followed by a close-range Sheer Cold.
However appearing as Aggron, a wave of Fire Blast erupted from its hand...
These bizarre tactics left Paul's Pokémon utterly bewildered.
Mew had indeed suppressed its strength, but it was clearly exploiting the system. Unlimited power and access to all moves.
While its strength was restrained, its stamina and abilities remained intact.
