As Zephyr walked away from Selene's room, he could not help but think of his sister. Blaize. Selene had been here for only more than a full moon, and yet, Blaize was a completely different person. He wondered if it was simply because Selene could understand sign language. But he could understand sign language too, and even though he had a good relationship with his younger sister, there was something so different in how she acted with Selene. It was a depth of connection, an unspoken understanding, as if they had known each other for a lifetime, not a season.
He pushed the thought aside as he reached the dining room, and now he was trying not to confront the other, more unsettling feeling that had settled over him: the calm. The undeniable peace that he was certain had come with Selene's recovery. He was so lost in analyzing this unfamiliar tranquility that he walked into the dining room and moved towards his seat without a word.
