"I thought the last place was bad."
After leaving the bigger cities and entering the countryside. Felix heard John's words as they tried to ignore the curious and slightly hostile glares. The young were curious while the old were nothing but hostile.
"It can't be helped. China is very steeped in traditions and legacy. Just be lucky we aren't Japanese or they will probably chase us with knives." Angel commented. "Part of their legacy is to pass their hatred of one generation to the next."
"How do you know?" Leon and John looked strangely at her.
"It's what I heard from a friend at school. Her family immigrated because of this or that's what she said." Angel blushed realizing it might be wrong.
While walking, they soon saw a teenager running through the streets with a couple men almost reaching middle age behind him holding knives and farm tools. The men also had a pair of young women that could be their daughters pleading with them. However, as they ran past, a few more older men who seemed to recognize them called out asking what happened.
The teen seemed to have been playing with the girls' hearts and had bedded them or something outside of marriage. There was even more than one, so the men who were once working with hoes and other tools, took off like a rocket. Their speed seemed to put the professionals to shame as they chased after that teen. Thus the two chasing soon turned into nearly twelve.
"Tsk, lazy pig." An old lady who ran a small vendor stall clicked her tongue.
Angel, seeing a bit of gossip, lightly inquired. She soon learned that the running teen was a well known slacker of their small town. Instead of joining others to work or continuing his studies, he just roams the streets a bit unmotivated. The only motivation he has is to lust over the various women.
So far it is rumored he has played with seven of their small town best looking women. Three of them at the same time until he was caught.
For how he does it, well it is entirely due to his looks. If he could have found an agent, he could have made it as a star even if he lacked talents in that regard.
"Why can't men control their lust?" Angel muttered as they continued walking.
"I don't think you are one to talk about controlling lust." Felix muttered.
"I wouldn't have to go so far if a certain someone didn't continue playing dead when it came to feelings." Angel sent a piercing glare at him.
Felix didn't comment as they began to go up the mountain. It wasn't really an area he was good at dealing with. So he just ruffled her hair and changed the topic as they made their way up the mountain.
"According to myth and divination. There is a portal at the top of this mountain that will take us to a sacred land. We will have to climb this tower to reach the top to get the Ruyi Bang that is said to be wielded by Sun Wukong." Felix answered.
"Climbing?" Angel asked.
"In myth, Sun Wukong is a legendary martial artist. So it is said he placed it at the top of a towering tower telling those that want his weapon, must first climb it." Felix replied with a cheeky smile.
"Will you be able to climb the tower?" John asked.
"Of course, haven't I been quite active in these past adventures?" Felix grinned mischievously.
There is another part that he theorized and could only test once they get there. If it is true, then this will probably be one of the more simple treasures they seeked.
Why is there no famous tourist attraction of a giant pole sticking into the sky? That is because the magicals who oversee most of the Asian countries have it hidden away. In truth they didn't know if it was magical or not, but assumed so a century or two ago.
It might have been more because one of them was a bit greedy for strength and power that this was done. Over all, Felix didn't know nor did he care that much.
--
It took about a day to reach the top of the mountain. This is mainly because they were just taking their time, but as the sky began to grow a bit darker. Felix alongside John and Angel stood at the top before entering a portal.
Once on the other side, in a forest they stood before a tower that seemed to soar straight through the sky. There was no end in sight nor was there no good grip on the tower.
"So we have to climb this tower?" Angel asked feeling a bit intimidated.
"I don't think I will make it much less to carry anyone." John said with no confidence in his voice.
"It's a good thing we aren't climbing it then." Felix smiled as he touched the tower.
Under their stunned looks, the tower vanished as it rapidly receded. Then Felix stood there with a pole about his height swinging it lightly before placing it on his shoulder.
"Huh? Is it that simple?" Angel asked.
"Of course not, otherwise this would be long gone. I simply know the proper way to use it." Felix answered. "Now, let's get out of here before someone comes."
So, after urging his two stunned friends, they quickly left with a new treasure in hand. It was a fairly simple find this time after all.
