Chapter 6 - Just a walk

This revelation was quite the shocker, he couldn't have known about his previous existence... But who was he when that happened. But was it true. "Perhaps some type of play... They are trying to fool me." - As much as he was trying to cope with the truth of the situation, there was no going back from there... He already knew the answer.

He needed to simply accept it... And so he did, he turned his mind off from the situation and went for a walk. Just a walk...

Quite the fine lot of land marks, the occasional entity attack was annoying, but over all a fine walk.

In the end he thought to himself, - "I wonder if i can simply make them not attack me automatically... So i don't have to worry for it. Yeah... No attacks on me. From any of you, any time soon."

"How convenient." - He said as he saw a hound come from around the corner. He confidently, walked forward towards it. And it passed him. As if he wasn't even there. - "Perfect..."

With that the walk continued, he passed by many things, a few different entities, friendly wanderers and a few exits even. Just to end up in a hallway with a small wooden door at the end of it. He opened it and looked inside, seeing a huge library. His shoulders bounced as he got through and entered, the library. It felt different, it wasn't Level 5.

He looked around, walking around nonchalantly. Slowly he moved to one of the bookshelves and picked a book at random. The moment he took it and read the first line, he already knew what he was reading... "Generic information about the backrooms."

Ain't you handy.

And so he sat down near the railing and began reading.

It was as the title said - Generic information: concepts, entities, items, levels.

It described no-clipping as the distant cousin to the concept of quantum tunneling.

This was genuinely interesting to read. But then something caught his eye in the entity page.

His head felt light, but the page was in the writing, and when it finished he completely forgot about his goal of finding who he was when he was a human.

Non the less the page was about him.

"Glitch"

The contents of the book were vague when it came to the origin of the so called "Glitch", that being him. But it sure did tell quite a bit about the powers of the Glitch, or at least those which the kid had performed before, like respawning, when in truth he was meant to appear in the Grave, or Corruption, the touch of death, or the most important one, System exploitation. In terms that was all in simpler terms, in a way the Library mind explained it. It actually feared his Corruption, and that's why it gave him all he needed, to please him.

Then another description, one about appearance. It described the Glitch as a normal person, but as implied a bit glitchy.

But there was another problem, the kid didn't know that this was referring to him, because he also forgot his past experiences.

"You shouldn't be reading those books, you know that?" - suddenly a man with a squad head appeared beside him, looking down on him.

"Who are you?" - The kid asked.

"Damn it." - The squid guy murmured under his breath. He cleared his throat and began speaking - "I will introduce myself... Again. I am the gentleman of level 5, the level you just came from. And your memories are being taken by reading that information... It's trading your memories for information..."

"Figures... My head feels light." And it really did, but there was something else, gaps within that flat surface that became of his memory. That feeling provoked an unknown to him yet familiar poetic feeling.

"It's in our plus if we leave now." - The gentleman said calmly looking down at the kid, but the kid didn't listen. He was murmuring something. - "Pieces of a shattered mind."

And without saying much of anything else he left the book which held all of that he gathered after that rebirth, yet no book could share the knowledge of what happened to him, only what he knew...

The gentleman cursed the library mind under his breath, before walking after the kid, but when he went out of the library, the kid was gone. Gone in an open door with a forest scenery on the other side.

The gentleman looked mildly annoyed. "For #@$!s sake."

Before he could say anything else, the kid had vanished with a turn behind one of the trees.

On the other side the kid saw clouds, lots of them, and some wooden paths and platforms. - "How peaceful..." - he said to himself before proceeding to walk on said paths.

That was the nature of level 63 and he was all in for it. He had consumed a lot of information, he needed some peace to understand. Hours passed, but nothing new. He was considering throwing himself off to see what would happen. Even if there were distant whispers of his long lost human instincts, he still proceeded to dive down. At first his idea was to get on a lower platform, but it seemed to avoid him. He even flew towards it with a frown. - "C'mere!"

It didn't listen, it continued to move away from him and eventually he was knocked unconscious by an invisible force.
