Jade's POV
The door to my office swung shut behind me, but I didn't need to look to know he'd followed me in. I could feel him. I always could.
I kept my back to him, my hands shaking as I slammed my tablet down on the desk. The anger was a hot and I let it crash over me.
"You just disappeared!" I yelled, whirling around to face him. "Two years! No call, no text, no 'hey Jadey, I'm not dead in a ditch'! Nothing! You kissed me that night like I was the only thing that mattered in your entire world, and then your ex-wife shows up crying and you just… pushed me into a car! You said you'd explain everything! And then poof! You were just… gone!"
I was pacing now, my heels clicking on the polished floor. I couldn't look at him. If I looked at him, I'd cry.
"You have no right to just show up here now! No right to stand there looking… looking like that and—"
He was moving closer. I could see him in my peripheral vision. I kept talking, my words coming faster now.
