Ryder's POV
(TWO YEARS LATER)
The city stretched out below the window, busy as ever, as beautiful as it was in night time even in the middle of the day.
Two years. Two years since Kai...Two years since everything. Yet it didn't feel like two years. It felt like a lifetime and also just a blink.
This bedroom was big. Tasteful. Nothing like the storage room at The Last Call. The sheets were soft, the furniture was expensive, and the view was something people paid millions for.
I stood there, bare chested, just watching the world go by. I felt… different. Lighter. The constant pain in my chest was a dull ache now, not a sharp wound.
I guess I moved on...at least some days it feels like that.
I felt someone press a kiss to my shoulder blade and then arms wrapped around my waist from behind, and a head rested between my shoulder blades – her.
I smiled without turning.
"Hey," a voice murmured against my skin.
