Third-person POV
Zephyra sat on the edge of her bed, staring at the floor when a knock sounded at the door.
"Zephyra," Astraea's voice called softly. "Are you still awake?"
She immediately scoffed under her breath. Now she wanted to show up? After dragging her home over an hour ago and disappearing, leaving her with Draven to patch up her wounds? Typical.
Still, she stood and opened the door, and just like always, the second she saw Astraea's face, perfect and beautiful, her anger weakened. She forced herself to hold onto a small frown so she didn't look like she was ready to forgive her too easily.
"Can I come in?" Astraea asked. Her eyes searched Zephyra's face, cautious, almost careful.
Zephyra didn't answer. She simply stepped aside.
As Astraea walked in, the air seemed to shift. She felt it, a faint twinge, almost like something wasn't right, but she ignored it, reminding herself that her focus was on Zephyra.
"How are you feeling?" Astraea asked.
