The first wave of spinning bolas hit the hornets. Since bolas were much slower than bullets, even when thrown by trained and strong arms of Beemarines, hornets actually tried to dodge them or swipe the approaching bolas with their claws.
Most of the bolas from the first wave were dodged, and only a few hit the hornets, but overall, they did nothing more than slow the swarm down and distract it for a moment.
Then, the second wave of the bolas hit!
Since its targets were slowed down and distracted already, most bolas found themselves a target.
The majority hit the arms, legs or torsos of the hornets, doing nothing more but staggering the giant insects and slowing them down for a moment.
But a few bolas hit the hornets' wings, tying them down. The affected hornets immediately had trouble flying, even if only one of their wings was entangled.
And as a finisher came the third wave, which entangled already entangled hornets even more!
The entire swarm was slowed down.
