Chapter 406 - Chapter 406: Kursed Warrior Algrim

Thor landed on the warship that Algrim had arrived in. At this time, four or five dark elves had emerged from it. They were following Algrim, who had transformed into a Kursed warrior, and were heading into the building.

Thor saw them and roared angrily. With lightning wrapped around his body, he threw a powerful punch from a distance, sending a beam of lightning that struck one of the dark elves holding a weapon, knocking him away.

Algrim, the leader, heard the noise, turned around and saw Thor. He immediately recognized him as Bor's grandson and Odin's son!

The Dark Elves had hated the Asgardians since ancient times, and Thor, the crown prince and future king of Asgard, was no exception. When these two enemies met, their hatred was palpable, and Algrim immediately charged toward Thor.

At the same time, the other dark elves pointed their weapons at Thor and fired continuously in an attempt to kill him outright.

Although Thor had awakened his divine power, he was not confident enough to take the enemy's attacks head-on. He dodged several energy blasts by leaning sideways and summoned lightning to strike them.

Algrim immediately stepped forward to stand in front of the other dark elves, using the Kursed warrior's powerful physique to absorb Thor's lightning. However, Thor did not dare to use his full strength because he was concerned about the civilians in the building.

After the lightning flash, Algrim stood there with smoke rising from his body, but he brushed himself off as if nothing had happened, and then strode toward Thor.

Thor was undaunted. He gathered lightning in his hands and channeled it around his body, then collided fiercely with Algrim.

The two were evenly matched in strength, but the dark elves behind Algrim were not idle. They sought angles to fire at Thor.

If the Kursed warrior had not been so tall and shielding Thor's body with his own massive frame, they would have opened fire relentlessly.

Algrim and Thor locked arms and wrestled with each other. At first, the two were evenly matched, but as seconds passed, Thor, empowered by thunder, gained the advantage.

Although the lightning surrounding his body could not cause significant harm to Algrim in his Kursed form, it still had some impact, causing him to gradually lose strength.

Finally, Thor knocked Algrim down, but the moment after Algrim fell to the ground, the dark elves seized the opportunity and opened fire on Thor.

With no time to dodge, Thor had to raise his arms in front of himself to block the attack.

But in the next second, a red energy barrier appeared in front of Thor, intercepting several energy blasts. Wanda had flown down through the glass that Thor had broken.

When she arrived, she immediately noticed Thor's predicament and came to his aid.

At the same time, the others in Stark Tower were not idle. Tony and Rhodes had donned their armor, flown out of the building, and begun engaging the dark elves who were piloting warships and continuously bombing the city.

Captain America, Barton, and the others quickly rushed downstairs, ready to confront the dark elves who had invaded the building.

Natasha charged forward with Mjolnir in her hand. She came up behind the dark elves who were firing at Thor and Wanda, and knocked one of them away with a powerful swing of the hammer.

At this moment, Algrim regained his footing and punched Wanda's magical barrier repeatedly, causing ripples but failing to break through.

Seeing Natasha suddenly attacking his companions, Algrim immediately abandoned his assault on the barrier and turned to rush toward her.

Just as Natasha swung the hammer and struck another dark elf, she saw the towering Algrim charging toward her. She had no time to think. She recalled the hammer and raised her arm to try to block his attack.

Unfortunately, Algrim's strength far exceeded Natasha's, and he knocked her aside effortlessly. Captain America, who had just arrived on the scene, witnessed this.

The moment Captain America realized Natasha was in danger, he hurled his shield at Algrim, but it had no effect on him whatsoever.

Captain America was undeterred by the ineffectiveness of his attack. He quickly ran forward and kicked the rebounding shield back at Algrim, then reached out to catch it as it bounced back again.

After ducking to avoid Algrim's counterattack, he struck at Algrim's feet with his shield, but was kicked away by the Kursed warrior and slammed hard against the wall.

Wanda, who had been maintaining the magical barrier, transformed it into a portal, redirecting the attacks of the dark elves who had been suppressing them with their firepower.

In an instant, several dark elves were knocked down by their own attacks, and even Algrim was caught off guard and struck by friendly fire.

While he was distracted, Barton shot an arrow from the upper level, but it was caught by the quick-eyed and quick-handed Algrim. The explosive tip on the arrow detonated, yet had no effect on him.

Thor had not been idle. He left the enemies to Wanda and went to deal with the dark elf warships hovering over New York.

Tony and his team were engaging several warships at this time. The materials of the dark elf vessels were incredibly resilient, and ordinary firepower could not damage them, forcing Tony to use high-intensity weapons to defeat the enemy.

But the consequence was that the ammunition carried by Tony's Mark 9 armor was quickly depleted. Mark 9 was an upgraded version of the Mark 8 used in the previous S.H.I.E.L.D. conflict.

Compared to Mark 8, the functions of Mark 9 were closer to the original Mark 45. Although its combat capability was strong, it still wasn't as powerful as the Mark Destroyer I.

Tony hadn't anticipated that they would be suddenly attacked. He had been planning to go to Greenwich to evacuate civilians. It didn't make sense for him to wear a purely combat-oriented armor like the Mark Destroyer One.

That's why they were wearing Mark 9, but now its limitations were becoming apparent. Although it had more and stronger firepower than Mark 8, it was still insufficient to face aliens of this caliber.

Meanwhile, on the ground, Ross, who had been under attack from the beginning, finally coordinated a response and ordered the troops in New York to activate all military facilities, vowing to defeat the dark elves who had attacked them.

At once, many artillery batteries hidden near the city opened fire, bombarding the dark elves' warships.

When Nick Fury, who was in Washington, received the news that New York was under attack by unknown alien forces, he was also bewildered.

Although he knew that Jane Foster had been in trouble and Natasha had informed him about the Aether particles, he never expected that Earth would be attacked by aliens so soon, and that the situation would differ from what had been shown on the Sky Screen.

Nick Fury was certain they were dealing with aliens because he knew no Earth nation could infiltrate New York so stealthily that even Tony's early warning systems failed to detect their arrival.
