Chapter 185 - Chapter 185: Misunderstanding—I'm Not Your Enemy!

"Black Bolt, you don't have to do this." Gorgon tried to dissuade him from heading to the Skrull base. Those aliens had been their enemies not long ago.

But Black Bolt's decisions were not easily changed. He summoned Lockjaw—a dog as large as a grown man.

Once, Lockjaw had been human. But after undergoing Terrigenesis, he transformed into this massive canine. Why he was given such a peculiar name remained a mystery known only to him.

Understanding Black Bolt's silent command, Lockjaw gave a nod. The moment Black Bolt placed a hand on him, the duo vanished in a cloud of mist, reappearing in the Skrull city on the Moon within seconds.

"Intruder alert! Intruder alert!"

The alarm blared almost immediately upon their arrival.

The city was newly established, with many of its defenses still incomplete—there were no teleportation inhibitors yet. After all, very few beings on Earth possessed the ability to teleport at will.

"Who are you?" The newly formed Skrull security forces rushed forward, surrounding Black Bolt and Lockjaw with their weapons raised in warning.

Black Bolt gestured, attempting to explain, but the Skrulls only exchanged confused glances. None of them understood sign language.

For a moment, Black Bolt regretted not bringing a translator.

"An Inhuman!?" General Kallruth, who had just arrived, tensed at the sight of Black Bolt. As a Skrull military commander, he knew well the history of the Inhumans. Created as experimental weapons by their archenemies, the Kree, the Inhumans had once fought alongside the Kree against the Skrulls.

Without waiting for an explanation, Kallruth barked an order: "Eliminate them!"

Skrull weapons discharged, sending streaks of energy toward Black Bolt. His superhuman physique could endure great punishment, but these energy blasts would tear through even him.

Brothers, I'm not your enemy! Black Bolt thought as he dodged the attacks. Thankfully, the city's layout provided enough cover for him to evade for now, but exhaustion would set in soon. Meanwhile, Lockjaw wasn't as lucky—one of the blasts struck his hind leg, leaving a charred wound.

Black Bolt had no choice.

Opening his mouth, he unleashed a devastating sonic wave. The very air trembled violently, and the metal ground beneath them began to crack under the force. The plaza, barely completed, was torn apart like a sandcastle in a hurricane.

Kallruth barely dodged in time, but many Skrull soldiers were flung into the distance, their fate uncertain.

Damn it! Kallruth scowled. His body twisted and reshaped itself until he was an exact replica of Black Bolt.

As a Super-Skrull, he didn't just mimic appearances—he could replicate the abilities of those he transformed into. Having fully recovered from injuries sustained in previous battles, his power was at its peak.

With a chilling shriek, Kallruth unleashed his own sonic attack. Their sound waves clashed, creating shockwaves that further fractured the metal ground beneath them.

Black Bolt gritted his teeth in frustration. I didn't come here to fight! Yet the Skrulls had given him no chance to explain. Now, stopping was no longer an option—doing so would mean being torn apart by the energy backlash.

Lockjaw whined in distress. His only ability was teleportation, and he couldn't risk trying to transport Black Bolt in the midst of this chaos.

Black Bolt met his companion's eyes and silently commanded him to return to Attilan alone. They needed reinforcements.

Lockjaw hesitated but eventually obeyed, vanishing in a swirl of mist. His destination: Medusa. If anyone could fix this mess, it was the Queen of the Inhumans.

Meanwhile, Garus, who had just arrived in the Moon's Skrull city, felt the tremors beneath his feet. Frowning, he turned to the Skrull Queen. "What's happening? Do earthquakes occur on the Moon?"

The Skrull Queen shook her head. "I'll contact General Kallruth and find out. There have been no seismic readings or meteor impacts recently."

However, no response came from Kallruth's communicator.

Just then, a Skrull soldier rushed in. "Your Majesty, we've detected an intruder in Sector C3—an Inhuman."

"An Inhuman!?" The Skrull Queen was visibly shocked. How could an Inhuman suddenly appear on the Moon?

Garus, however, was not surprised. The only logical explanation was that the visitor had come from Attilan, the Inhuman city on the Moon. So, they finally decided to make their move. But what were their intentions—diplomacy or destruction?

"Let's go see for ourselves," Garus decided. The Inhumans weren't a force to be ignored. According to the Watchers' data, over 1,300 Inhumans possessed significant abilities—far more than the current number of active mutants.

The Skrull city on the Moon was vast, and it took them over ten minutes to reach the source of the disturbance. By then, a massive fissure had formed in the ground. If this continued, the entire sector would collapse, requiring extensive repairs.

Kallruth, still in Black Bolt's form, was struggling. He lacked the sheer power of the real Black Bolt, and the longer the battle dragged on, the more disadvantaged he became. Meanwhile, his fallen soldiers remained motionless, unable to rejoin the fight.

Two Black Bolts? Garus was momentarily stunned before recognizing that one of them was Kallruth, who was clearly losing ground.

Then, at the epicenter of their clash, a swirling black rift appeared. The colliding energy waves were being devoured by the abyss, neutralizing their destructive force. The tremors soon subsided.

Enough of this.

Without hesitation, Garus extended his hand. Tendrils of necrotic energy coiled around both Black Bolts, locking their throats in a Death Grip, preventing them from using their voices. Another spectral hand yanked them both toward him.

Garus?!

Black Bolt rapidly gestured, signaling that he wasn't here to fight.

A mute? Garus blinked, realizing that this Inhuman couldn't speak. And he certainly didn't understand sign language.

Before either could react further, a swirling portal formed beside them. From within stepped a blonde woman—and a massive teleporting dog.

The woman's voice was frantic as she rushed to Black Bolt's side. "Brother-in-law! Maximus has gone mad—he's staged a coup and is trying to seize your throne!"
