Chapter 1 - [ PROLOGUE ]

[ PROLOGUE: "HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY" ]

"Finally, done and done."

Felix who was hunched behind a dozen stacks of envelopes, crumbled paper and otherwise could be seen exclaiming in relief. As finally, after hours and hours of writing, his wrist could finally rest, as he finally finishes writing all the Acceptance Letter for the year.

Which, in total, are about three hundred (300); all for children 13 and above, have affinity with magic, had shown they could use magic, and are spanned out across the 50 States of the United States of America.

Because unlike the original Hogwarts, created by J.K. Rowling, which is situated in the Irish Isles and recruits students from both Ireland and the United Kingdom.

This copycat Hogwarts is instead situated inside a parallel world where prehistoric animals exist, and recruits students that live in America; no matter the State they may be.

Plans for expansion are on the way, but at the moment, he doesn't have Credits to spare, and would use the remaining Credits that he has and would earn to expand Hogwarts, and well, buy more equipment for the Students.

Who, may he add, are very much spoiled by Felix. As he gives each and every single one of them three sets of plain uniform, wizard/witch robes, a wand, a cauldron, free boarding, free schooling, and food all-year around.

Which would span for 7-years until they graduate as proper and competent witches and wizards, as Hogwarts teaches students for 7-years long. From First-year to Seventh-year.

All free of charge of course, as he doesn't need dollars or whatever currency people use, the same currency he once valued. For the current Felix, they are now mere decorations, and couldn't be used by his System.

That is right. Felix has the (un)fortunate chance to be bonded with a System; the Teaching System, which grants him extraordinary powers---like magic, insight into varying subjects, and more---in exchange for teaching students the art of magic.

But to be honest, the name "Teaching System" doesn't quite fit the current System that he has; the more fitting term would be the "Headmaster System".

As he teaches, yes. And that is fun, a hobby for him, no burden at all. But operating, expanding, and worrying about how to convince parents to send their children to study at his magical school is more difficult than teaching students how to wield magic.

And yes, the latter is a rewarding endeavor, that is because he gains Credits each time he does---the sole magical currency that the System accepts---but more so because each time he does, the happiness and joy he sees in the students faces are priceless. As per saying, it weighs more gold, or something-something.

And thought he doesn't have a degree or experience in teaching beforehand, especially in magic. He quietly, subtly, and slowly learned the methods bit-by-bit as time passes.

And now... it has been three years, with the second year term having come to an end mere weeks ago; and for fresh, new, and innocent victi- souls to enter Hogwarts as First-years.

And for Hogwarts to grow again. Though this time, the number of Acceptance Letters sent to new possible students quietly dwarfed the total amount of Letters he sent in the last two years combined; which is 175.

50 for the first year; 125 for the second year; and finally, the latest, which is 300 Acceptance Letters. Felix prays that in all that Letters, he could recruit at least 1/4, which is 75 student. A great thing if it really did happen.

As a single student is a money bank on their own, and would generate income passively even without him teaching, as long as they are enrolled in Hogwarts and continuously live inside the castle. They would still generate income, as long as they are enrolled.

Which he could then go and re-invest back into expanding Hogwarts, feeding the students, hiring more staff, and buying more skills for himself---as that is the only way for him to grow personally.

He found out pretty early on that he isn't like the wizards and witches that he teaches, or alike the other Professors that he hired. He is technically a muggle, someone with no magic, and could only use it thanks to the System.

And the Credits has more applications that he knows and doesn't know of yet. As yes, Credits are in fact the universal currency of the System, able to create miracles with ease, as long as one has enough of it.

Which is why he values the students very much, may they be Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or even his own House---Slytherin. He cares all and all about them equally, cough, with a slight more favor to his own.

Felix couldn't quite help himself, he started teaching Hogwarts with little to no teaching staff, and only had three other Professors in the beginning. Naturally, each one was responsible for handling a House.

Still to this day, they are responsible. And Felix, he had the most affinity with the green crowd of Slytherin; with the others also having affinity with their own Houses, naturally.

As unlike Felix, they genuinely graduated from the House that they are governing, and could easily understand the culture, and highlight key values to their own.

For example, the stern, but also somewhat soft McGonagall was assigned to Gryffindor. The studious, yet carefree Flitwick was assigned to Ravenclaw. And the caring, friendly Sprout was naturally assigned to the last House---Hufflepuff.

And from what he could remember, they are the House Heads of those respective houses when Harry was enrolled, and even before that. Though he doesn't know how long.

Though, unlike their older, and more seasoned counterpart. They are younger and to some extent, one could say inexperienced. Which is true, but their parallel history which Felix knows of spoke a lot about them.

They have room to grow. They just need to overcome their own problems and insecurities first to become the best versions of themselves; the ones that Felix knows of.

Not like Felix knows them personally, he knows them instead as fictional people written by someone, in a book. Then another, as characters played by actors on the big screen, in the world renowned Harry Potter Movies.

And sadly, he hasn't read that much of the books to know them very deeply enough, only through the movies and the occasional videos on the Internet that he lets play while eating.

If only he had known that he would have the (un)fortunate fate of encountering them after death, after his second chance, and after he hired them as Professors for his Hogwarts.

Yes, still, to him, it is still an unbelievable fact no matter how much he tries to make sense of it, or no matter how long he tries to get used to that thought. The people that he once thought of as fictional are now very much real.

Better not dig that rabbit hole. He tried once, he still couldn't quite understand no matter how long he stares at the wall, or how intensely he does. It only leads to headaches.

Shaking his head, Felix then walked to his open window; gathering as much air as he could, he then whistled, followed by, "Abby!!"

[ COURIER OWL ABBY HAS HEARD THE PLAYER AND IS ON HER WAY ]

He was about to call out again, as sometimes he needs to do it multiple times. But the System prompt reminded him, so he didn't, as he instead waited for his favorite, lovely Owl.

Courier Owls, they are the eyes and ears of Felix, responsible for keeping safety over the occasional wandering students. And also, his hands, as they deliver letters for him.

And for the students too, as they deliver items from one world to another with relative ease; seemingly having a magical GPS encoded deep in their DNA.

Though in exchange for food. And with each Courier Owl having their own taste, likes and dislikes; one should always be cautious on what to give them, as one could accidentally offend by giving the unwanted food.

But universally, all Courier Owls love mice, and whatever small creatures the House Elves could find. And so, for the ease of mind, Felix always carries a dozen or so of them inside his Inventory to give as bribes- in exchange for their services. A win-win situation.

He silently pulled out a few dead mice, something he got through the Shop. And waited for his Owl with a smile on his face.

That smile of his widening even more as he sees an Owl approaching from the distance. A beautiful snow-white feathered Owl; and someone with a tag above their head.

Something that only he can see, and is one of the benefits of the System. That is the name tags above people or living beings' heads, if one doesn't have a name, it'll be a title instead.

[ COURIER OWL ABBY (UNCOMMON) ]

And in the case of originally unnamed creatures that once possessed only titles, or are created by the System, but now have been given a name. It'll be a combination of both.

Like for example in Abby's case. She's a Courier Owl made by the System in exchange for Credits; and Felix named her such, so, she has both the name and title above her.

"Hello, sweetie. How'd you've been?"

[ COOT ]

He smiled as he watched Abby who's wearing a small brown slinged bag perch herself in the open window, staring up at him in both curiosity, and with a look of boredom.

A quirk that all the Courier Owls share, a judgemental and frown-like appearance, even though they are happy on the inside and are mostly friendly to others.

Continuing, he patted the Owl which didn't dodge; and instead affectionately rubbed her head at his hand, leaning closer. "Hmm..."

Felix paused for a moment, as he noticed a certain detail that caught his eye; which he then blurted instinctively, his mouth seemingly having a mind of its own.

"Aren't you getting kinda fat as of late, Abby?"

Perhaps Felix shouldn't have said that, especially to a girl. But then again, he rarely does have a filter for his mouth; with it saying the first thing that comes to mind.

The silence that follows was deafening. And he did feel guilty when he noticed Abby staring up at him in shock, looking offended.

"I was... uhh, just kidding. You aren't getting that fat." He tried to clarify, but it seems that didn't solve a thing, and only made it worse.

Felix tried feeding Abby the dead mice that he was holding, but to no avail. Apparently the comment that he made hurt her, as she stares at her somewhat round stomach.

In comparison to other Owls she is indeed... fat. But isn't the fattest, that'll be Ben. But still, she is indeed on the heavier side of things, and that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

First, she looks cuter. Second, she doesn't need to worry about weight, as it doesn't affect her abilities to deliver mail at all. And lastly, it is all the students fault for giving her food time and time again; not her!

Finally after some time of persuasion, of back and forth, Abby finally relented as she ate one of the mice and hid the rest in her near bottomless bag of storage.

The bag of which is an accessory item that comes with buying a Courier Owl. In theory it is an infinite space of storage, but in practice it has its own set of limits.

It could only store up to 100 items, in Abby's case, as she is an Uncommon type of Owl. And for Courier Owls who are in the Common category, they can only store up to 60 items.

No matter how big or small the item may be. May that be a stack of books, dead mice, or clothes; as long as they count as one, it would count as 1 item for their bag.

A handy dandy accessory, especially for Owls whose work is to deliver packages left and right. Which includes Acceptance Letters to varying children across the whole country.

Watching Abby purr like a cat, Felix sidestepped as he shows her the dozens or so stack of letters, amongst other things which could be categorized as mess.

In seeing the mess, the Owl stared at him blankly, as if saying "what am I supposed to be looking at?" And if she could speak, she would have said those exact words.

In seeing the mess that he made, Felix lightly fake coughed as he then pulled out his wand from his sleeves; pointing it at the direction of his desk, which is anything but clean.

He promptly casted a simple charm which made all the rogue papers stack themselves neatly. For the quills and bottles of ink to hide in his drawers, and for the Acceptance Letters to stack themselves properly.

"I believe you know what to do next, yes?"

[ COOT ]

Felix watches silently as Abby calls out for help. A magical connection that only Courier Owls have and is used to contact one another even in great distance, like a built-in Messenger. And is told to him by the System

[ COURIER OWL ABBY IS CALLING FOR THE OTHER COURIER OWLS FOR HELP ]
