"I don't understand. How did that happen?" Starley asked. Raul did not answer Starley's question; he sipped his drink. Starley patiently waited for Raul to respond to her question.
"It's a long story," Raul finally spoke.
"We have time until morning," Starley exclaimed immediately.
Raul turned to look at Starley. "I have unfinished work," he said. Starley squinted her eyes; did Raul give her an excuse? It seemed Raul still didn't trust her.
"How can you finish your work in this drunken state?" Starley asked with a sigh.
Raul chuckled softly. "I'm not that drunk to the point of being unable to finish my work."
"But too drunk to finish your story?" Starley retorted.
"You seem so curious about my story, Miss Bellamy," Raul replied while observing Starley. Starley stared at Raul for a moment before saying,
"Forget it then. You don't seem to want to tell it anyway," Starley said reluctantly because this might be her only chance to learn about Raul's childhood.
