Dogday and max enter the counselor's office and the place gave vibes of fake security.
Dogday explained that some of the kids were taken here to talk to there counselors and help them but obviously they only saw the children as test subjects.
So what they actually did was monitor them and search for ideal candidates for expirementaton.
The more max saw how inhumane these scientists were the more pissed off he got and wanted to kill those scientists himself.
The place was filled with gas so he handed Dogday a mask to process him from the gas.
Max ran into another tape and he put it inside a tape player.
And Dogday was in the room listening to it.
The tape was about Stella talking with two adults about adopting a child named Jeremy but it took a turn when she said that the report said "testing".
The adults were beginning to ask questions about what does that mean and they started to panic.
This proves more that not everyone in playtime knew that about what was going on.
And kissy is proof of that.
Him and Dogday continued to find the power room lucky they found it and Dogday borrowed the grab pack to get the power going.
But when they were making there way back the red smoke was spreading like wild fire.
Dogday: be careful when there's a lot of this stuff it means that catnap is around.
Max: figured as much since this cat is basically a watch dog.
Dogday turned to look at max with a blank face.
Max: you know what I meant!
While they were making there way back max kept his senses up at all times.
And the smoke was getting thicker and thicker and they could barely see anything.
But when max sensed something rushing at him he grabbed his sword from the waist and used it to parry the claw aiming for Dogday.
He covered his sword in black matter and caught the claw not letting the grinning cat to get away.
He then turned and did a shoulder throw motion and sent the cat crashing into walls but thanks to the red smoke all he could hear was a crashing sound.
Dogday: thanks.
Catnap somewhere in the smoke got up with some trouble his master told him that max was strong but the fact that he managed to notice him in the smoke was surprising since this was his way of hunting down his prey.
But still he had a job and he will get it done.
Catnap: leave playcare or I'm coming for all of you.
His voice was deep and raspy and that gave him a creepy factor but max wasn't phased by this.
Max: if you want us to leave then let us do our thing and we will get out of your hair. but I guess idiots like you who views someone as a god is too idiotic to understand what I'm saying.
This comment enraged catnap and he rushed at max and Dogday to kill them.
But out from the smoke max came out of nowhere with a winded up fist.
He then swung and sucker punched catnap sending flying towards some walls but catnap felt something and he noticed that part of his jaw was broken.
He didn't have to process this since he saw max's silhouette in the smoke and catnap decided to run away if this guy was strong enough to break part of his jaw it's not worth risking death.
Max sensed that the cat was leaving with his tail between his legs he scoffed at this.
He threatened to come after them and the moment max showed his power he ran away it's the bully scenario when faced with someone stronger the instantly fold like wet paper.
Dogday came over to max's side and saw the broken wall.
Dogday: so you said that I'll eventually be able to do this?
He pointed at the broken wall that catnap crashed through.
Max: yeah. all though like I told the girls this place is not exactly a good for training
Dogday: yeah I see why.
They managed to get out and now that they're in area with clean air they could breathe fresh air.
Dogday grabbed the cord and max opened the door to the statue.
They got down and Marie was showing the girls her hands which was covered in spiritual energy.
Max: I see that you are getting used to it.
Marie: yeah. It feels kinda tingling it's like my body is getting stronger by this energy.
Max: well its normal since spiritual energy is like electricity powered by your soul but if you want my advice don't focus too much on just your fist every part of your body is important so try to spread it around your whole body.
Marie followed his advice and closed her eyes and spread the energy around her whole body and she felt everything was getting clear her head felt completely clear and her body felt strong but it felt relaxed at the same time but along with that she felt like she now one with her soul.
To others watched as yellow energy was flowing around Marie and her aura felt intense but relaxed.
While kissy Dogday and poppy had surprised look on their faces max looked proud.
Marie opened her eyes and unlike before were she had a tensed look her eyes were completely relaxed.
Max: so? How do you feel?
Marie: I feel like all my stress just went away and I feel like a new person.
Max: anything else?
Marie took a moment to get a feel for her at the new sensation of her own soul and she nodded.
Marie: actually there's something else. I think.
She closed her eyes to focus and continued to grab at that feeling.
When she did she felt like she could reach out to anything like she back to begin mommy long legs but this time she reached out with her energy.
From out side Marie's energy suddenly turned into a yellow hand and grabbed a battery box.
Everyone was surprised by this but max wasn't he got close to the ghost hand and took a closer look.
He felt like these hands were similar to his black arms but unlike his black arms these arms are connected to her energy while his black arms are more like a part of him and the time one that his black arms and spiritual energy are connected is were he is trying to enhance them.
But that aside Marie's ghost arms are directly connected to her energy so that means she can get tired easily if she doesn't use it well.
Guess that explained why her energy is yellow since these arms are connected to her energy that means that she will need a high amount of energy to use these arms.
Marie opened up and saw her energy arms.
Max: looks like your ability is similar to mine but your arms are connected to your own energy that explains why you have yellow energy since using it might take a toll on your body.
While max was explaining how her ability works Marie was just gawking at her the energy arm.
It felt like stretching her arms like before but this was spiritual and not physically.
Max snapped his finger on front of Marie to get her attention.
Max: I was saying try and see if you can reshape it like mine.
Marie tried to focus on her energy arm and try to shape it but all she managed was a tendril she tried to shape it to blades or something but couldn't.
Marie: I can't all I can do is a tendril.
Max looked at energy tendril and decided to test something.
He put his hand on it and the moment he did it was stuck to his h.
He didn't panic or anything he just shook his hand to see how sticky it was and it was very well stuck.
Dogday: hey why is it stuck to you?
Max: looks like she can't just make hands and tendrils your energy has a sticky effect like bubblegum.
Marie: so its like my webs.
Max did a double take on that.
Max: your webs? Wait you could produce webs?
Marie: yeah I don't know how the scientists did it but I could do webbings. Guess when I got this body that transferred to that.
While max was a little wierded out by the fact that Marie was a literal spider but that aside he focused on what was important.
Max: try and see if you can control the stickiness.
Marie focuses her stuck out tendril and he felt a grip on Max's hand she concentrated on that and she let her spiritual grip go she guessed that the stickiness effect is focused on what she wants on her grasp.
Max felt that tendril let go of his hand and it came back to Marie.
Marie: that felt really odd but that aside it looks like my stickiness is focused on what I want to grab.
Max: I see if we have time I'll teach you some tricks on tendril combat.
Kissy: that's sounds really wierd.
Max: oh bite me. But actually how is the level of power?
Poppy: it's 98% complete thank goodness that catnap didn't wreck the generator.
max: so once we reach 100% what's next?
Poppy: it will restore power to the gas production zone so we can transfer the gas to the left.
Dogday: and once we do that we will go to save haven right? to see doey?
Max: who's doey?
Kissy: he is a friend of ours.
Max: anything else I should know?
Dogday: well he can be a little bit all over the place. Just try to be patient with him.
He wasn't unsure of what that meant but he was already expecting this doey character to have some screws loose like marie when she was a toy.
Poppy: okay good it reached 100%.
She went to a compartment and got out a big power box and unlike the others this one was blue.
Poppy: with this we can restore the gas production zone lets go we waisted enough time as it is.
They got out of the statues and went to the gas production.
But just as poppy was about to was about to put the power box max felt someone behind the door and he recognized the spiritual signature as catnap's but just as he was about to pull her away it was Marie who caught her first.
He guessed that when she awoke her ability she can now sense spiritual presences but that didn't matter now.
Catnap came out the door and let out the red gas the others put on there masks to avoid falling asleep due to the gas.
They ran towards the elevator but max stopped Marie.
Dogday: what are you doing!? Get in!
Max: nah you 3 get out me and Marie will take care of the creeping cat.
Marie: what!? I can't face him!
Max: you have an advantage on him and don't worry I'll protect you from him.
Kissy and Dogday were unsure they were mostly worried about Marie more than max but poppy pressed the bottom for the elevator to go up.
Poppy: he will be fine let's get out!
The elevator lifted up and max felt like poppy was more worried about her own survival than the others he will have to make sure to keep an eye on her.
But that aside max picked up Marie and got out of the way of a claw strike from catnap.
Max got good look at the creeping cat and he saw that his jaw was still broken and that he looked more cautious.
He put Marie down and she instantly got behind him she was too scared of catnap due to her trauma.
Catnap rushed at them and max rushed back at the cat.
When he saw that catnap was gonna swing his claws he slide between the cat's legs and grabbed his tail and swung him around.
When he thought he build up enough momentum he let go of the tail sending the cat crashing somewhere in the room.
Max: Marie! I know your scared of the cat but how long are you going to be afraid? You can't die normally and you can't feel pain so get over your fear and help me give this fur ball a beat down!
Marie listen to max's words and she remembered that she can't feel pain unless her soul is directly attacked and catnap can't hurt her without some method of hurting her soul.
She decided to trust max's words because now she isn't a toy or a little girl she is now a spirit and max said that she was stronger then catnap in terms of abilities.
Marie saw catnap's silhouette behind max and with her resolve set she subconsciously put spiritual energy into her feet and did a leap towards the cat.
In a second she was I front of catnap and with a spiritual energy enhanced leg she kicked catnap this time she kicked off his jaw completely.
Catnap landed on the ground writhing in pain due to having his jaw completely kicked off.
Marie looked at the result of her actions and she felt good about kicking one of her mental tormentors.
Max patted her on the shoulder and he was smiling under the mask.
Max: looks like you enjoyed hitting him.
Marie: damn right he gave me nightmares thanks to his smoke.
Max: well good thing I didn't kill the poor bastard early because then you would still be afraid of him.
Marie looked at him with wide eyes.
Marie: are you telling me you could have killed catnap? Why didn't you?
Max: ain't it obvious? So that you can stop being afraid of him besides I want you to used him as a test run for your new abilities and even if you didn't jumped in I would have still defended you.
Marie couldn't argue against that since she wanted catnap dead but now that he's in a poor state she can easily kill him and max was right since this would be a good chance to test out her abilities.
She started to walk over to catnap with two tendrils at the ready.
Catnap saw her and saw the tendrils he started to back away possibly afraid of Marie and max.
Max: Marie stop.
Before she could question him a claw suddenly pierced catnap's chest and went towards Marie but max made a black tendril and got her out of the claw's range
After failing to catch Marie it dragged catnap's body away towards a vent.
Marie recognized that hand it was the prototype's but how did he get here wasn't it supposed to be in the lower levels?
Max: so let me guess that was the almighty prototype?
Marie just nodded still shaken by the fact that the prototype was after her but.
Marie: why did he kill catnap I thought that the prototype cared for him?
Max: well if I learned anything from cartoons or classic villains he probably wasn't useful anymore thanks to the damage we gave to the poor bastard.
Marie: I guess that makes sense.
Max noticed that the gas was going away and saw the power box he put it in and redirected the gas to the left.
The two got going to outside.
Marie: hey max.
Max:mmm?
Marie: I just want to say thanks for helping me with my issues.
Max: of course. Your lucky that I actually didn't take you seriously when you were a toy if you were an actual threat I would have killed you. And believe me I can hold a grudge.
Marie gave him a "are you serious expression"
Max: I'm kidding I'm just glad that you didn't quiver in fear.
Marie: whatever. You asshole.
Max: hey look I'm serious. Usually people who don't face their fears aren't strong and that's a weakness I'm glad that you faced that cat.
Marie: yeah I guess you're right.
Max: come on let's see if the others are in the statues.
They got there and when they did poppy Dogday and kissy were there looking anxious but when they saw max and Marie there expression changed to relief.
Dogday: you too! Are you all okay?
Max: we're fine Marie here got a good kick on that dirty cat.
Dogday: you did?
Marie: yeah and it felt good.
Dogday had a jealous look on his face.
Dogday: good for you. I actually wished that killed him myself.
Max: yeah about that. We didn't actually killed him his master killed him for us.
Kissy: the prototype!? He's here?
Poppy tensed at hearing that and max noticed he was honestly getting pissed off at poppy for holding back information and if he sees something stinggy he will kill her.
After clearing what's going they got to another part of the gas production zone.
Max: so why are we in this part?
Poppy: before we go on I need to show you something.
Max: that is?
Poppy walked over to a tape player and grabbed a tape.
Poppy: you see this? This explains what happened to the employees. This is "the hour of joy"
She put the tape and unlike the others this played video footage of the top level.
Max instantly got out his phone and put on the recording function on his phone to send it to Miguel.
He saw that in the footage huggy suddenly got aggressive and attacked someone and started a rampage.
Then it showed Marie who was her toy form dragging people up and she dropped them to their deaths.
Then it showed an employees getting killed by tiny Huggies and many miss delights chasing one person.
And then it showed a box toy biting on an employee and then it showed kissy attacking others.
The last one was of catnap throwing a dead body out of his way.
Then it just showed the amount of bodies that was in facility after that event.
Max was a little shocked by this but at the same time he wasn't surprised it if he was in the same position as those kids he would have killed those scumbags.
But that aside at least it explains why he doesn't see any bodies of the employees anywhere.
Marie: god seeing myself as mommy again it's like looking at a bad mirror.
Max: Dogday what did you do in the hour of joy?
Dogday: obviously I got my own revenge on those scientists when I was a kid I was more of a pacifist but they turned me into a monster. So can you blame me?
Max: I'm blaming anyone. If it was meet I would have killed every single scientist myself and not only that I can hold a grudge.
Kissy: so you don't think we are monsters?
Max: hah!! That's a laugh if anything I'm real monster here.
There was a ringtone and max took out his phone and saw Miguel's logo.
He took some distance and answered the phone but he instantly noticed that the connection was poor.
Miguel: I saw the video and that it was surprising but still max the connection is complete garbage where are you the connection isn't bad unless you're in a territory.
Max: I'm underground and I think I'm going deeper since we are here for a reason.
Miguel: kid just to be sure are any of the toys a threat?
Max: no they don't know or have spiritual knowledge so yeah although they keep mentioning an experiment just named the prototype.
Miguel: is he dangerous?
Max: he ain't a threat if we compare him to Bonnie. She would easily kill him with her bubbles.
Miguel: so once again are you sure about this we won't be able to call each other so be careful let me know when you get back to the surface I'll let the cabs know that you might be away for a while and they can come back. I'll let your family know that you are going to be away for a while.
Max: actually how many days have passed? Like a week?
Miguel: actually it's been 3 days so don't worry there ain't no flying cars.
Max: good I guess I felt like I've been here for years.
Miguel: anyway be careful kid.
Max: I'll be fine.
They both hung up and he went back to the group.
Dogday: what happened?
Max: don't worry Miguel it's just being worried about me.
Poppy: come on let's go down we will meet doey below.
They got on the platform and kissy was going to pull the lever down but Marie made her energy hand and pulled it down.
However while the platform was lowering a loud crash was heard and a voice sounded enraged and Marie and max recognized the soul signature.
Catnap: you bastard!! Your the reason prototype killed me!! I will kill you!!
The others were shocked at hearing catnap's voice but it sounded more distorted.
Max however realized why catnap was still alive.
when he died his soul left his body and took form somewhere else and he probably is out for blood.
Max: ah shit.
The hatch was bursted open and catnap now looked monstrous skinny legs and a large mouth larger than before.
[Note: basically nightmare catnap]
He jump down from the top.
Marie made two tendrils and pulled everyone out of the way.
But when catnap landed the platform couldn't handle his weight and it started to plummet down.
But unfortunately for the cat he was the only one who was going to fall.
Like Marie max made tendrils and wrapped everyone up and made wings to prevent themselves from falling.
All but catnap who fell on to the bottom levels however max knew that a simple fall won't kill the now lost soul cat.
Looks like he was going to business himself.
