I don't understand how, but the body of the snake lady was being devoured by my aura.
Cell by cell, I believe. She was consumed so quickly that my mind couldn't even process it. And then, eventually, there was nothing left but her soul.
I thought things might be different this time, but after hovering for a few seconds, her soul disappeared just like the previous ones.
The presence I had sensed watching the snake lady turned its attention to me. It lingered for a few seconds, then vanished my body still whole and intact.
