"Wow. Are you guys psychically connected or something?" she blurted out, surprised.
Carl chuckled, amused. "No. If we were, he would have come here himself. He sent you here because he knew that, deep down, you already knew the right thing to do. You just needed a little push in the right direction. I'm glad you made the right choice."
"Me too," Nnenna said softly, then walked out of the room.
She wandered down the hallway, her mind already busy. Where do I even start to find the person poisoning Carl? Her steps grew aimless until she realized she had been walking a long time without seeing anyone.
"I should have asked for directions…" she muttered, facepalming. Looking back, she realized she did not even know the way to Carl's room anymore. "Great. Just great."
As she stood there, still thinking, a gentle, aged voice interrupted.
"Who are you? Are you lost, dear?"
