"Sh-shut up!" I stammered, spinning away from them and crossing my arms, staring at a particularly interesting patch of grass as I pouted. The heat of their teasing slowly faded, replaced by the cool evening air and the surreal realization of where I was. My head snapped up, my eyes wide as I took in the familiar park, the distant city lights, the normal, non-magical trees.

"Wait," I breathed, my pout forgotten. "We're back. We're actually back."

"Yes, we are," Morgiana said softly from behind me. "Thanks to you."

Suddenly, her arms were around me, pulling me into a firm, grounding hug. It wasn't gentle like Pisti's; it was solid and sure, a rare and powerful gesture of gratitude that made my cheeks warm up all over again.

"T-thanks," I managed, patting her arm awkwardly. "It was nothing."

"Don't you 'nothing' me, mister," Pisti said, appearing at my side and poking me playfully in the ribs. "You were incredible."

I stuck my tongue out at her, feeling a bit more like myself. Morgiana let go, and I took it as my chance to escape any more emotional conversations. "Well, see ya," I said with a casual wave, turning to walk away as if this was all perfectly normal.

I didn't get two steps before two sets of arms wrapped around me from behind, stopping me dead. I looked over my right shoulder to see Morgiana, her face turned slightly away, but I could clearly see a faint blush on her cheeks. I glanced to my left and saw Pisti smiling warmly at me.

"You're not getting rid of us that easily," Pisti said, her voice gentle but firm. "What if you lose control again? That rage… my Sacred Gear might be the only thing that can calm you down without hurting you."

"A-and," Morgiana added, her voice barely above a whisper. "We're… we're a package deal."

I stood there, captured, a strange warmth spreading through my chest that had nothing to do with embarrassment. I let out a long sigh, a small smile tugging at my lips. "Hmm, fine," I relented. "I guess I could take in a few more troublemakers."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Pisti asked, her own pout now making an appearance.

"I rest my case," I said with a smirk.

The moment of levity shattered as a wave of cold, malevolent energy washed over the park. It was a feeling I knew all too well—the oppressive aura of a high-class devil, laced with desperation and the metallic tang of blood. My friends. I looked in the direction of the school, my expression hardening into a mask of stone.

"Where are we going?" Pisti asked, sensing the sudden, dangerous shift in my mood.

Without a word, I grabbed both her and Morgiana firmly by the waist. Two massive, leathery dragon wings erupted from my back with a sound like snapping flags, kicking up a swirl of leaves and dust.

"Out of the frying pan," I said, my voice a low growl as I pushed off the ground with explosive force, "and into the fire."

….

The wind roared in my ears as we streaked across the night sky. As we got closer, I saw it: a massive, shimmering dome of energy covering Kuoh Academy. Inside, flashes of light and explosions painted a grim picture. Sona. She was pouring everything she had into that barrier, trying to contain the fight. As if sensing my approach, her head snapped up, her eyes finding mine across the distance. I saw the relief, the shock, and the single tear that rolled down her cheek. I must have been gone for longer than I thought.

We were almost on top of them. "Hold on," I grunted. Then, I let them go.

"You jackass!" Pisti shrieked as they fell.

Morgiana, ever the pragmatist, twisted in the air, landing silently on the school's roof with Pisti in her arms. I didn't have time to explain that they needed to be clear of my attack. A furious, fiery aura exploded around me. I tucked my wings and dove like a meteor.

"FIRE DRAGON SWORD HORN!"

I became a living projectile, my head lowered and wreathed in spiraling flames. I struck Sona's barrier head-on. It didn't just break; it shattered, exploding outward in a shower of crystalline blue light.

I landed hard in the center of the ravaged courtyard, right between my friends and their enemy. The sight that greeted me extinguished the fire within me, replacing it with something far colder and more terrifying. Rias, Akeno, my whole family—all of them were beaten, battered, and struggling to stand. And standing over them, a cruel, manic smile on his face, was a fallen angel with ten black wings. Kokabiel.

My flames died down, but a new power took its place. The air around me began to crackle, and a violent, yellow lightning aura erupted, bathing the courtyard in its furious glow.

I focused my eyes on the fallen angel, my mind instinctively gathering data. Observe.

Name: Kokabiel

Gender: Male

Race: Fallen Angel

Title: War Maniac

Fame: Ex-Fallen Angel Leader

Level: 320

...

Kokabiel's grin widened as he saw me. "Ah, the little Dragon Emperor!" he boomed, his voice dripping with sadistic glee. "You're finally here! Now I can have the real fight I've been waiting for!"

His voice was drowned out by the weak, relieved cries of my friends.

"S-Shiro…" Koneko whispered, her small frame trembling as she tried to stay upright.

"Shiro," Alucard grunted, panting heavily as he leaned on his sword.

Zoro managed a weak, bloody smirk. "Took you long enough, dumbass."

"You can say that again," Sanji gasped, clutching his side.

Issei, leaning on Rias for support, gave a shaky but defiant laugh, pointing a trembling finger at the fallen angel. "Heh… you're so fucked now, Kokabiel."
