As expected, the high magic power consumption from transforming into Asura's Six Path Mode is so high and Alex can't last long enough to keep up with Acnologia's stamina even with his very high amount of magic power.
Acnologia's skills and power are also higher than he thought. He thought he had gauged Acnologia's true power in their 1st battle, but it's still stronger than he thought.
This means Acnologia was still holding back a lot in their 1st battle. He held back to enjoy that battle. Now Alex is even more sure that Acnologia was holding back against the weakened Igneel.
Alex can't keep his pace because his energy is depleting faster than Acnologia. But he keeps his calm and focus to stay in his best shape. Losing his calm and focus is dangerous in this level of battle.
He controls his breathing, focuses solely on the fight, and ignores any disturbing thoughts. He doesn't even show his previous excitement and doesn't show any emotion because he is fully concentrating on the fight.
With his newfound focus, Alex can see everything more clearly and make better decisions. He can see all of Acnologia's attacks much clearer now and to save energy, he only dodges them slightly, and he avoids blocking because it uses more energy, so he focuses on dodging.
His Rinne-Sharingan can make him see through all of Acnologia's attacks, so he can dodge them as slightly as possible. Sometimes he even gets a little scratches because he dodges too closely, but mere scratches don't affect him, and they heal instantly because his body is fully made of magic power now.
To save even more energy, Alex doesn't attack too much and only strikes when there are good chances. He looks through all of Acnologia's attacks to find his chances.
Acnologia sends barrages of punches, claw attacks, kicks, and tail attacks. Alex dodges them and then when Acnologia sends a claw attack from below, he sees an opening.
Acnologia's right side is open as his right arm is raised high. So Alex swings his left fist and Acnologia doesn't see it coming because his raised arm blocks his view.
But then Acnologia spins his body and swings his tail very strongly at Alex, so Alex drops himself. They are still high in the sky, so Alex can just stop his floating ability and fall to dodge that tail attack.
Alex doesn't just dodge though. He plunges his sharp claws into Acnologia's thighs. At least he tries to, but Acnologia's scales are very hard and his claws just make some scratches.
He immediately knows that Acnologia has hardened his scales with magic because they weren't this hard before. The scales' hardness should be the same everywhere and Acnologia's right side scales weren't this hard when Alex punched it.
Alex sees the black scales are glistening and he can see with his Rinne-Sharingan that more magic power is imbued on Acnologia's scales. So Alex confirms that Acnologia has increased his defense by hardening his scales.
Acnologia's scales are already very hard, but he hardens them even further because he knows his normal scales aren't hard enough to defend against Alex's attacks.
Anyway, Alex changes his tactic quickly and grabs Acnologia's feet with both hands. Then he pulls Acnologia down while turning his body upside down.
To everyone's surprise, Alex is using what is called a dirty move by most people. He slams his right foot onto Acnologia's crotch from below and the impact is enough to make all the men who watch it flinch and cover their dingaling reflexively.
The kick actually sends Acnologia even higher while Alex falls even faster. But Alex manages to stop himself midair and looks back into the sky where Acnologia seems to feel an incredible pain because his roar sounds pitiful.
But Alex doesn't care and grabs 3 Truth Seeking Balls from his back. He puts it in his mouth that suddenly grows like Kurama's mouth and bites it until it breaks. It explodes and a white laser beam is shot from Alex's mouth towards Acnologia.
The white beam is made of all 7 elements combined into 1. Yin, Yang, Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Lightning. This is a very strong attack and it hits Acnologia who feels a generational pain right now.
Even though his scales have been hardened, the impact still can pass through the hard scales and affect the still-soft internal organs. That's why Acnologia is still hurt although the hard scales did reduce the damage.
When the white laser beam hits Acnologia, a massive explosion happens, covering the whole sky. The explosion can be seen from half of the whole continent while the shockwave can be felt from hundreds of kilometers.
Everyone anticipates the result while watching the smoke clearing away. They hope such a strong attack can greatly injure Acnologia. It does injure him, but not so much because of his already hardened scales.
He has bruises and some ripped scales that ooze blood out. But his injuries are light and he actually managed to block that attack with a magic shield in the last moment, reducing the Truth Seeking Ball explosion's power significantly.
Zeref who is still planted on the ground and hasn't recovered most of his body that almost got fully destroyed is surprised when seeing Acnologia use a magic shield.
Acnologia almost always tanked every attack with his body because he is very confident with his body's toughness. Yet he used a magic shield to block Alex's attack. It can only mean that Alex's attack could greatly damage Acnologia who even has hardened his scales.
Alex's attack was a real threat to Acnologia, something that even Zeref can't pull off in 400 years. He often hit and injured Acnologia, but Acnologia never hardened his scales or even used a magic shield.
Zeref's attacks often injure Acnologia quite badly, but Acnologia never bothered to defend. That means his attacks weren't life-threatening, while Alex's attack just now was too dangerous even for Acnologia who now roars furiously.
He stares daggers at Alex and starts eating magic power in the atmosphere rapidly. Alex also prepares his attack because he knows it will be a much stronger attack than what Acnologia has ever used in front of him.
So Alex takes 5 Truth Seeking Balls to burst now which will create an even stronger attack. The 3 Truth Seeking Balls he used before didn't recover because he doesn't have enough magic power to recreate them.
Acnologia is gathering an incredible amount of magic power in his mouth, making Alex sure that this next attack will be incredibly strong, stronger than any spell Alex has ever seen.
Alex is also ready to shoot his attack to counter Acnologia's most powerful Dragon Roar. He is floating below Acnologia, so if Acnologia's attack passes through, it will hit the ground and maybe destroy this whole continent, which Alex can't allow to happen.
They are ready to shoot their attacks when suddenly Acnologia turns his head towards the airships that have gathered around Fairy Tail's airship.
Acnologia knows Alex will protect them, so he shoots his most powerful Dragon Roar toward the airships and as he thought, Alex quickly moves to stop that attack.
Still holding the Truth Seeking Balls in his mouth, Alex quickly move in front of the airships. He literally flashes, arriving in front of the airships almost instantly and standing on the path of Acnologia's Dragon Roar.
Alex immediately bites the Truth Seeking Balls to create the beam to counter Acnologia's most powerful Dragon Roar. The white beam is stronger than before because Alex uses 5 Truth Seeking Balls now, but he is rushing his attack because of Acnologia's sudden maneuver, so it becomes weaker while Acnologia's attack has gained a good momentum.
Acnologia also has calculated the power of his attack and truly uses all his power into it to defeat Alex's attack. So when they clash, Alex's attack is quickly overpowered by Acnologia's attack and gets destroyed.
When his attack is destroyed, Alex quickly crosses his arms to block Acnologia's Dragon Roar and protect everyone on the airship. Everyone shouts, but they can only helplessly watch the massive Dragon Roar hits Alex because it's too fast for anyone other than Alex to react.
When it hits Alex's body, it creates a really strong explosion and shockwaves that push the airships back, even destroying some that aren't tough enough to hold against even the indirect impact of Acnologia's attacks.
The high-class Mages do their best to protect everyone else, but a lot of them are still blown away by the impact that even destroys rocks and trees below.
Acnologia smirks triumphantly while looking at the explosion, waiting for the result. When the smoke clears out, Acnologia can't help but get surprised by what he sees.
Alex's arms and upper front body are covered by purple magic armor that wasn't there before. They crack and get destroyed soon after, but they manage to block Acnologia's most powerful Dragon Roar and keep Alex alive.
Yes, it's Susanoo. Alex finally manages to activate it when he's in a pinch even though it's still incomplete and not very powerful. It also used a very high amount of magic power to make the imperfect Susanoo he hasn't mastered to block Acnologia's most powerful Dragon Roar.
He used most of his remaining magic power and managed to protect everyone including himself. But now, he doesn't know how he'll continue fighting Acnologia with his remaining magic power.
