I sat in the car for what felt like forever unable to actually get my body to climb out of it. Maybe I had forgotten how to move my legs or breathe. The caving in my chest feeling as if my heart had been ripped out of my chest as I fisted the clunk of metal in my hand for what felt like forever.
Connor had called off the engagement, slipped the ring right off his finger and placed it in the palm of my hand.
