Chapter 260 - Chapter 260 - I Want You to Take Good Care of My Daughter, Do You Understand?

[Chapter Size: 2300 Words.]

Third Person POV

Skellige.

...

...

On the beach of Undvik, a Madara appeared at the place, while looking at the whole area covered by a mist with a freezing air, at the same time he saw shards of ice scattered everywhere.

He approached the land. His other clone was wandering somewhere on that island and there was no way to contact him, since he was carrying out the island's missions until finishing them all. He could even cancel the jutsu and take his memories, but still, Madara wanted to keep him busy, so he created a new wood clone and sent it to the island, running across the sea until it got there.

There were rumors about his adventures, just as King Bran had spoken about his adventures with Ciri. More stories circulated about them walking through other islands together. Some ships began to say they had seen a young couple walking on the water of the sea.

By then, the rumors were spreading through the ports, and Madara's name had already been pronounced on all the islands, along with the royal wedding that would take place in Ard Skellige.

Anyway, he didn't pay much attention to that. His attention went directly to the signs of magic use at the place, nothing less than the traces left by the Wild Hunt. They were chasing them and had reached Skellige.

"Ciri didn't use any of her powers here, but still they managed to come to the place where she passed with me." Madara thought. He knew he needed to be careful and talk to Ciri. If they were managing to track her, she should limit her power. Probably, they were attracted by her long-range teleports that she used, which drew more attention than the teleports she used to fight.

The clone stayed there a little longer checking the situation before beginning to fade, carrying with it the information for the original body.

Madara received everything the clone had studied. His eyes blinked slightly, carrying the worst of the information to himself.

He was walking alongside Geralt, both wearing cloaks to disguise their faces as they passed through the city at that moment.

The city was very busy. People exclaimed, bards had been attracted to sing about it, and Madara's name was heard all the time along with Ciri's, in everyone's mouths there. They said it would be the most powerful union on the continent, something that would unite kingdoms for generations. Madara found it a bit ironic, how things had escalated to this level after the announcement only 2 days ago.

Anyway, Madara and Geralt took some common horses and mounted them, leaving the city soon after.

Neither of them said anything as they entered the nearby forest. Madara didn't bother to say anything, he just waited for the witcher to start talking, since he had asked to speak privately with him. He knew very well it would be about Ciri.

They kept going deeper into the forest, until Geralt got off his horse and checked some tracks on the ground, left by animals.

"A deer... a lone male." Said Geralt, turning his attention to Madara. "Our task is to catch it for tonight's banquet."

"You don't want to do this the easy way, do you? You prefer to do it your way?" Said Madara calmly.

"Obviously." Geralt replied in a neutral tone.

"All right, we'll do it your way." Madara said, shrugging.

"It's better if we leave the horses here." Said Geralt.

"Are you sure? Some thief might show up, or even a monster could eat them." Madara said calmly.

"You could leave a clone." He said.

"And where's the talk of doing this the old-fashioned way?" Madara mocked.

"You understood me." Was all Geralt said, shrugging. Obviously he was just joking. Madara left a clone and then they tied up the horses, creating a wooden fence to protect them.

"Now let's hunt the animal." Said Geralt, following the footprints and tracks.

"You know..." Geralt began, while tracking. Madara could easily do this alone, but decided to accept the witcher's way, since he wanted to talk.

"You and Ciri will be committed starting tomorrow."

Obviously, this was the talk Geralt wanted to start: to talk about his relationship with Ciri, and it didn't seem far at all from the role of a protective father with any man who was going to marry her the next day.

"I know where you're getting at. You want me not to hurt her." Madara said.

"Obviously." Said Geralt dryly. "Because if you do, no matter who you are, I'll come after you." He threatened Madara.

"Well, that's fair." Madara shrugged. "At the same time, I know you just want to protect her, but she's already been my protected one for a long time. I've been with her for more than 12 years."

"Yes, I'm aware of all that." Geralt replied, while Madara's thoughts turned to the Wild Hunt that was chasing them even in Skellige. He needed to talk to Ciri as soon as he finished the conversation with Geralt.

"Well, you know..." Geralt spoke again. "...I never imagined having a daughter or anything like that. When I invoked the Law of Surprise, it was only because I didn't know what to ask from Pavetta's husband. At that time, finding out that the law would give me his daughter left me shocked and even terrified."

There was no way a witcher could have a child, much less a princess as a daughter. Madara remained silent, listening to Geralt.

"Calanthe didn't like that one bit. She immediately expelled me, and I also didn't do much to try to take the girl. I simply left her. It took me several good years to come back for good..." He said.

"Admit that this is quite a long time. But destiny would never let you forget this burden of yours, would it?" Madara said calmly.

"Yes. I was in Brokilon when I went to solve a problem for a local monarch and found Ciri almost falling into the hands of the Dryads. It wasn't easy, but at that moment I realized there was no way to escape her. I had gone to Cintra a few years earlier. Calanthe gave me the option: if I guessed which child was Ciri among the several she had chosen, I could take her. She put all the children dressed as boys with cut hair, even the girls, and Ciri wasn't even among them."

"Well, knowing Calanthe's temperament, she was quite protective." Madara said.

"Too much, I admit." Geralt said. "And when we met, Ciri had also invoked the Law of Surprise. Did you know that?"

Madara raised an eyebrow at hearing this, surprised. "I knew I was connected to Ciri by destiny somehow, but explain that better to me." Said Madara, quite interested.

"When Ciri was trying to convince me to take her to Kaer Morhen, she kept asking questions all the time about my life. I refused to take her or answer much, since a witcher's life wasn't fit for a little girl. So I spoke a little about how we could be bound and explained the situation: what happened with her parents, how I had lifted the curse from her father and invoked the Law of Surprise."

"Ciri simply raised her voice after that and shouted something like, 'then I also invoke the Law of Surprise, may it give me something that binds to me forever!' I thought nothing would happen, after all it was just a child screaming words." Geralt said.

"A child with Elder Blood..." Madara reminded him. "However, I think there was some childish yelling that day before I met you both." Madara recalled. "That's why the ghouls were drawn directly to Ciri... How scandalous." Madara mocked.

"Yes. It didn't happen immediately, but about twenty minutes after she had screamed, while she kept asking questions nonstop, and then a ghoul attacked her... that was when you appeared." Said Geralt, while Madara remained silent.

They kept hunting until they spotted the animal they were looking for: an adult male deer, about two hundred meters away from them. Madara and Geralt could easily see it in the forest with their trained eyes.

"What I mean..." Geralt continued, "is that you are bound to her anyway. Well, I can't deny I've always been cautious with you. Even more so after that little prophecy about creating a new world, which also seemed connected to you." He murmured the last part as Madara raised an eyebrow.

"I want you to protect her, to take care of her as she deserves, that she may be happy at your side. The girl has already suffered a lot in life, and I would hate to see her suffer even more. And I know that, for you, it will be possible to do all of that. Correct?" He said, staring at Madara.

"Of course, you know I will." Madara replied. Obviously, he was listening to a father concerned about his daughter. Geralt had to have this conversation with him — after all, the next day they would be married.

"Great." Geralt said, as he stealthily approached the animal until he was within range of the crossbow, while it ate some grass leaves.

"There are a few more things I'd like to talk to you about. I want to know what your goal is, what you want to do in this world, in the future." Geralt asked, speaking about his plans.

"Well, I can't say we won't have big problems after we get married. We have to deal with a bunch of elves teleporting anywhere in the world, traveling between portals; a demon that shows up with warnings here and there; some shinobi from another continent; and also a parallel world full of dark creatures wanting to enter this one to destroy all living beings..."

"We have to deal with the recovery of Cintra, which is still in the hands of the Nilfgaardian Empire. We have to drive the Empire out of the North as well, deal with kings and queens thirsty for power as soon as they see Cintra's restoration. Maybe also deal with future assassins, traitors, and spies in the court."

"Maybe later deal with parenthood... Well, it sounds like a future full of excitement." Madara mocked, while Geralt frowned. What more could they expect? They had too many enemies, too many problems to deal with. Maybe the future was still unclear. Vilgefortz was the least of them.

"But we'll do it together." Madara continued. "Ciri and I. I'm sure you won't leave us hanging either, right?"

Geralt gave a small smile. "Of course we'll help you. Whatever you have to face, we're in this together." He said, while signaling for silence, finally close enough to the animal, before raising his crossbow and quickly firing the shot.

The bolt flew and struck the deer's neck. Immediately, the creature cried out before starting to run, but it fell after only a few meters, breathless. Geralt had hit a vital point in its neck, and the deer was now lying on the ground, suffering and dying.

Geralt approached and quickly ended the animal's life with his steel sword to remove it from its agony.

"Can you carry it?" Geralt asked, while Madara nodded, placing the prey into a storage scroll. Soon after, they began leaving the forest.

Geralt had chosen to hunt his way because he wanted to have this conversation. It would be much slower than if Madara had rushed in to kill the creature, or simply used the corpses he already had stored in his scrolls. The goal was the dialogue.

In the end, both advanced out of the forest, while Geralt still thought a little about the words he and Yennefer had heard a few years ago.

'I want to change the destiny of this world.'

'A world of only victories.'

'A world of only peace.'

'A world of only love.'

'I will create this world.'

Those words echoed in Geralt's mind, wondering if it would be real, if that boy would become the person who would say those words.

Anyway, they took the horses and began returning to the main city, heading toward the castle.

At the same time, Yennefer had been having a conversation with Ciri, something similar to what Geralt had had with Madara, going to another part of the island with the sorceress's teleport.

The sorceress hoped to talk a little as well about sexuality, about motherhood, even though she had no experience with the latter. Still, she had always known about the subject, since she had always sought to be a mother.

She was a little disappointed when Ciri simply shrugged. The young woman had already done everything she needed to know with Madara in his bed, and he seemed to have plenty of experience in it and had taught her to give him pleasure in various ways, the same as Madara who would make Ciri lose control and reach orgasms easily. Yennefer didn't insist much after hearing that.

Still, Yennefer asked about the future, about what they planned. Ciri basically gave the same answers as Madara: first they had to deal with problems and enemies, then with politics, and finally with motherhood which would also be a challenge, even if it was something that would bring happiness to both. Only they wanted to do this without anything else getting in the way.

In the end, Madara and Geralt returned to the castle. That day there would be a preparation banquet. The next day, the wedding would begin.
