He didn't stay seated. Instead, he stood up, the movement was smooth, unhurried, yet very deliberate.
Nulissa's crimson eyes tracked him immediately, sharp and attentive as always. Even now, even in a moment like this, there was that underlying awareness in her gaze, the same one that made her such an exceptional leader.
But beneath it, there was something warmer. Something far less guarded and a tinge of excitement within her as she wanted Jax to come closer to her, remembering the last time they met.
