A force as overwhelming as an avalanche and as vast as a tsunami erupted from Guy. He crouched slightly, adopting a seemingly simple starting stance, yet in the eyes of everyone watching, he resembled a terrifying ancient beast preparing to deliver its final, lethal strike to its prey.
And as the so-called "prey," the Shinigami felt this most acutely.
For the first time, a trace of shock appeared on its cold, expressionless face. A deafening alarm rang in its mind.
Impossible! Impossible!
It refused to believe it. The man before it was merely a mortal—how could he pose a threat to a god?
Even the previous Shinigami facing Asura's reincarnation hadn't felt such danger.
Yet, no matter how much it denied it, the reality was undeniable. It was facing a crisis unlike any before.
Desperately, it tried to retreat, to put distance between itself and the incoming threat.
Too slow. Too late.
On the other side, after settling into his stance, Guy tensed his muscles, gathering power throughout his body. Then, in a single explosive motion, every fiber of his being activated at once. Accompanied by a thunderous roar, he launched forward—like a ferocious tiger, like a mythical beast.
"Night Guy!"
Just two simple words, yet with them came an overwhelming surge of crimson energy. The blood-red vapor, a mixture of Guy's blood and chakra, erupted wildly from his body, filling the air.
But this untamed eruption did not last long. Once the vapor reached a critical mass, it began to churn and coalesce, forming a massive, imposing dragon of pure crimson.
The dragon was fearsome and grotesque, its eyes—one of the few parts not dyed red—flashing with a killing intent so intense it felt tangible. It bared its massive maw, revealing rows of blood-colored fangs sharp as blades, and from deep within, a low, menacing growl echoed.
Yet, what drew the most attention was not the dragon itself—but the ultimate strike at the center of its jaws: Guy's finishing kick.
"Realm!" The Shinigami roared in hysteria.
A field of sickly yellow-green energy spread outward. Within this domain, the Shinigami felt its power double and gained abilities beyond mortal comprehension.
After all, within the Realm, it was the absolute ruler.
Feeling the surge of strength, the Shinigami regained a sliver of confidence. Raising its pale, sleeve-covered hands, it directed its power toward Guy's incoming attack.
"Space Reinforcement! Speed Reduction!"
It issued two commands, pouring all its energy into these defenses. It was certain—there was no way this attack could break through.
But it was wrong.
The blood-red dragon lunged forward, jaws wide, and in an instant, the Realm was crushed within its maw, as effortlessly as biting through a fragile eggshell.
"No—!"
A desperate, enraged howl echoed as Guy's kick tore through the Shinigami's form.
At the same time, the crimson dragon swallowed the spectral entity whole.
Within moments, the Shinigami—once an immortal being—was reduced to nothing. Its very essence dissolved, vanishing completely.
Silence.
An eerie stillness blanketed the battlefield of Uzushio.
Kakashi was stunned. Tsunade was stunned. Everyone was stunned.
Even the watching brothers of the Sage of Six Paths were in utter disbelief.
Someone had actually done it—someone had slain a god.
If Might Guy had access to a unique physical constitution, wouldn't that make him… invincible?
"Guy! Are you okay?!"
Kakashi was the first to react, rushing forward to catch his plummeting friend.
Guy's body was in a terrible state—his skin showed signs of severe charring, his muscles overstrained and burning. The sheer heat from his technique had nearly incinerated him alive.
Yet, despite the agony, Guy did not appear sorrowful or dejected. With great effort, he lifted his right hand and formed his signature gesture.
"Kakashi! My youth has surpassed yours!"
"Guy!"
Even Kakashi, usually calm and composed, felt his vision blur with unshed tears.
His life had been one of constant loss—one dear friend after another taken from him. And now, even Guy was about to leave him behind?
"Kakashi, don't grieve too much. Guy can still be saved," Tsunade interjected, stepping forward to administer medical aid.
Thanks to the influence of Hashirama's cells and Tsunade's immediate treatment, Guy's life was no longer in danger. However, his days as a shinobi were certainly over.
"Really? Guy won't die?!" Kakashi felt as though his emotions were on a rollercoaster, swinging from despair to hope in an instant.
Tsunade nodded firmly and continued treating him.
"Yes!"
"Thank goodness! Guy is going to live!"
The others couldn't help but cheer as well.
A hero deserved to live.
But fate often had other plans.
From a nearby ring, a voice coughed and crackled to life.
"Ahem!"
"I know this might sound bad, but Kakashi… you need to finish Guy off."
!?
Kakashi froze. Tsunade, now holding the ring, also froze. Even Guy himself was dumbfounded.
What kind of insane suggestion was that?!
"No time to explain! Just look up!" the voice—Deidara's—urged.
The three of them turned their gazes skyward.
The moon, which should not have been visible yet, now hung eerily in the dusky sky.
Something was very wrong.
As their confusion deepened, a massive, grotesque creature emerged. It was an enormous monstrosity of purple-black hue, covered in writhing heads, its colossal body seemingly swallowing the entire moon.
"That's Moryo. Its goal is to absorb the Goddess of the Rabbit, Otsutsuki Kaguya, who remains sealed within the moon. We have to stop it."
"If it succeeds, no one in this world will be able to oppose it," Deidara explained.
Kakashi's expression tightened. "That… that thing… can we even stop it?"
"You can't. That's why we need Guy."
Kakashi's breath hitched. "But he—"
"He has to die. Then Orochimaru will use Edo Tensei to revive him, and he and I will head to the moon to face Moryo."
"But—" Kakashi hesitated, his grip tightening. Even if resurrection was possible, killing his closest friend with his own hands was unthinkable.
"Relax. Once we retrieve the Rinnegan, we can use Rinne Tensei to bring him back. If the Rinnegan is destroyed, there's always Self-Reincarnation Jutsu."
"It's just a simple revival, really."
"Better to let Guy refresh his status than spend the rest of his life as a cripple."
…
That… actually made a lot of sense.
Kakashi scratched his head. Two years ago, the shinobi world had seemed somewhat normal. Now, things had become so chaotic that even resurrection had turned into a casual occurrence.
