Because she has two young siblings, she stays here all day.
"What's wrong with you?" she asked the young boy, "Didn't get any food today?"
The two children behind him took out the seven cents they had managed to get, and the woman breathed a sigh of relief.
Seven cents, enough to buy them something to eat.
"You look very downcast."
"Yes, Mom, I lost the food a gentleman gave me, two large bags of meat."
His mother paused for a moment, then beckoned him to sit next to her, resting on her leg.
She gently stroked the boy's hair, "Lost is lost, at least we still have seven cents and can eat."
With his head resting on his mother's lap, he said, "That gentleman said he was willing to let me work for him."
The woman asked, "Are you willing?"
The young boy nodded, "For a reason."
He wanted to change life; one shouldn't lose sanity and live like a mad dog.
He needed to earn money, take his family away from here, and protect the family and Mom like a man!
