Chapter 72 - Chapter 70: The defeat of Baroque Works begins

Oliver thought about what to do with his enemy, but before he could act, Mr. 6 grabbed another building and hurled it at him.

He dodged it using Soru, just as another harpoon came flying at him. This time, however, he kicked it away, sending it crashing behind him.

'This one didn't have a rope... Where did he throw it from?' Oliver wondered as he hid among the rubble. 'And that strength... it's way too much for such a thin body.'

"Did I kill him?" said Mr. 6, unable to spot Oliver.

"Don't be stupid! He's gotta be somewhere nearby! Look for him!" said a woman's voice through a radio hanging from Mr. 6's pants.

"Alright," said Mr. 6, walking around as he searched for Oliver.

Oliver began moving through the streets without losing sight of Mr. 6, all while looking for Miss Mother's Day.

'I don't think he's that hard to beat, but if Miss Mother's Day interferes, I might take an even stronger hit,' Oliver thought.

He kept walking until he heard a loud crash and saw debris flying into the air.

'I guess he's just smashing everything,' Oliver thought, continuing to move.

He navigated through the streets, watching the rooftops in case Miss Mother's Day appeared, but she was nowhere in sight.

'A Devil Fruit that grants increased strength?' Oliver thought as he moved forward.

After a few more seconds, he arrived at an area with heavy destruction.

"What happened here?"

While Oliver observed the wreckage, Miss Mother's Day watched him from between the houses. She aimed her weapon and fired her harpoon.

The harpoon shot at full speed toward Oliver, but upon impact, it bounced off and crashed into a building.

"Huh?" said Miss Mother's Day, surprised it had no effect.

Oliver looked behind him, toward where Miss Mother's Day had fired from.

"Found you," said Oliver with a smile.

Miss Mother's Day started running away, but with a single jump, Oliver landed beside her and delivered a punch that sent a burst of air flying toward her, knocking her off the building.

"Damn woman... good thing I started using Tekkai in case she struck back," said Oliver, feeling a slight ache in his back.

He approached Miss Mother's Day, who struggled to stand after the fall.

"A little Electro should knock you out," said Oliver as he grabbed her head. "Shock!"

A small jolt surged from Oliver's hand, instantly knocking Miss Mother's Day unconscious.

"One down. That was pretty easy."

Suddenly, Oliver heard a loud noise and the ground cracked beneath him, followed by Mr. 6 bursting through a building and launching himself at Oliver.

"¡Kami-e!"

For a moment, Oliver's body moved like paper, dodging the attack and causing Mr. 6 to stumble. Oliver then countered with a punch to the face—but it had no effect.

"Huh?"

Both Oliver and Mr. 6 froze—one confused, the other scared.

"That was anticlimactic... but I think I get it now," said Oliver with a smirk as he grabbed Mr. 6's hand. "You've got a Devil Fruit, something like the Dageki Dageki no Mi."

Mr. 6 started sweating profusely upon hearing the name of his fruit.

"If I'm guessing right, it lets you increase your strike power, but only if you hit your target. The more hits you land, the stronger the next one becomes. But if you miss even once, you lose all that built-up power," Oliver said, gripping his hand tighter.

"W-Was it that obvious?" asked Mr. 6, terrified.

"No, but I'm a fan of this world. I've seen a lot of fan theories," said Oliver.

"Fans?" asked Mr. 6, confused.

Oliver didn't answer. He pulled Mr. 6 toward him and delivered a headbutt straight to Mr. 6's forehead, slamming him into the ground.

"Wasted time for nothing. Just because some things are different doesn't mean everything is stronger... Better head for the bomb," said Oliver as he headed toward the clock tower.

He rushed as fast as he could to the tower and took down two more agents.

At the clock tower, Mr. 7 and Miss Father's Day were guarding the cannon with the large bomb.

"Now we just have to wait for the time set by Mr. 0," said Mr. 7.

"And the explosion will be really good," said Miss Father's Day, watching as the rebel army and the royal guard began to clash. "How can they be so stupid? HAHAHAHA!"

Suddenly, a hole burst open in the tower, sending up a huge cloud of dust that blocked their view.

"What happened?!" exclaimed Miss Father's Day.

"A stray cannonball?!" said Mr. 7, bewildered.

Out of the dust emerged Oliver, who lunged at them and slammed their heads against one of the walls.

In that instant, he knocked them out using Electro.

"And that's done."

Oliver let them fall to the ground.

"The rest should take care of the other agents," said Oliver, setting his gaze on the giant cannon. "So this is the bomb."

The bomb had a countdown timer, so even if Mr. 7 and Miss Father's Day didn't fire it, it would explode on its own.

"Can I take it with me?"

Oliver touched the cannon, trying to store it—but he couldn't.

"The system said I couldn't store something if it was too heavy... so maybe it's just too massive," said Oliver, trying to analyze how the inventory system worked. "I guess I'll have to check the limits of this thing later."

He looked at the bomb and touched it—this time, it successfully entered the inventory.

"Phew... Now I don't have to worry about it going off early," said Oliver, relieved. "I should probably leave a message so they know this is handled."

"What?"

Oliver looked confused when he saw the mission updated.

"Someone defeated two agents... Could it have been Usopp and Chopper?" he wondered, when another alert appeared.

Oliver looked through the hole he had made and saw that the rebel army was nearly at the gates of the Alubarna palace.

"Looks like I should get moving," said Oliver, getting ready to leave—when he spotted someone with light blue hair. "Guess I better see where this goes."

Oliver jumped from the clock tower—after leaving a mark behind—and went to follow that person.
