Francis pulled his car into Naarah's driveway, casually fixing the cuffs of his shirt before stepping out. He went on a business trip and is now back. He was well prepared to win Mina's heart. And this time he wasn't going to lose to anyone. He always timed his visits -when the street is quiet, when Mina is likely home and when he knew she'd need his help with what was going on.
But today felt different. He couldn't put a finger on it but he knew he'd find out.
The air was heavier. Dark SUVs lined the street across from Naarah's house, the kind only men with too much money and too many enemies drove. He frowned, his instincts prickling.
Then he saw him.
Aaron.
Francis froze at the bottom of the steps, disbelief punching the air in his lungs. The man he thought was dead. The man's Mina had mourned, the man he thought he had won over - was standing right there. Leaning casually against a car as if he owned the whole damn neighbourhood.
Their eyes met.
Aaron's lips curved, but it wasn't a smile. It was sharp and cold.
"Well, well, well. Isn't it the lapdog? How was your trip to Greece? Unfortunately, you had to come back."
Francis' jaw tightened, his fists curling at his sides. " I should have known, only crockroaches survive fire."
Aaron pushed off the car, taking slow deliberate steps closer. " Careful asshole. You're only standing here because I allowed it. Don't mistake my silence for weakness."
Francis trembled, he still remembers when Aaron pulled the trigger on him. He wasn't stupid enough to die in front of Naarah's house while Mina was inside.
"You're late, Aaron. Mina is going to be mine soon and I mean it." Francis barked
A dark chuckle left his lips.
"Late? I don't think so, lover boy. I was never late and I wouldn't ever be late. She was mine when I left and she will continue to be mine. "
Francis moved closer to him and spat on his face. Aaron frowned and took out a handkerchief from his back pocket. After wiping his face, he looked dead into Francis' eyes.
" Pathetic. You're just a pathetic fool, Francis. But I'm not going to do anything to you. However remember. I can end your life with a click of my fingers. You're nothing."
After saying that Aaron left. Francis stared at the silhouette of his enemy. He kicked his car tyre harshly. He felt the pain in his toes but refused to acknowledge it. He entered his car and drove off.
"I will find a way to get Mina, Aaron. And the is nothing for you to stop me. She is also mine. I have been with her ever since you left her side."
